He's going to face Inno/Rogue, two of the best players in the world and both superior to him, very likely not gonna face any Protoss players (Has, Showtime are easy prey, Zest and Classic suck in PVZ, while Stats and Neeb both in slump), and all Zergs on this side of the bracket either have excellent ZVZ (Rogue and Dark) or have recently had good results against him (Scarlett came close at Valencia). Basically besides his first-round opponent nothing works in favor of Serral this time. INnoVation, I suppose, is the second best terran in the tournament, but he's faaar under Maru (and even TY, who unfortunately won't be attending) and shouldn't be a solid favorite for Serral. Meanwhile we've seen him beat Rogue already this year, and I think he has the best chance of beating Rogue out of the top ZvZers (Dark and soO being the other two). Then he places Classic in semis, which as you've noted is a bad PVZ player. So basically, he's a Bo5 against most likely Rogue away from finals. Swap Rogue with Dark and Classic with Stats and his bracket is a lot harder. Not to mention the easy 1st round.

If Inno plays Serral that means he was good enough to beat Rogue, something Maru has struggled with. And if Inno's TvZ is on Maru's level then Serral is toast. Serral's ZvT is not stronger than Rogue's ZvT no matter how you slice it. Serral vs Inno, if it actually does happen, will not be happening in a vacuum. There's context to consider. The same exact logic applies to Classic as well. If Serral vs Classic actually happens, that means Classic beat Dark. Serral's best chance is if the Zergs win, and even then ZvZ is, well, ZvZ.

With that being said, Inno is my favorite player but I have to give Rogue the edge here. (Especially if Inno plays his normal standard game w/o mixing in timings and aggressiveness like Maru) Though if Inno makes it past Rogue, this is easily a Maru vs Inno grand finals. Rogue or Inno would be in the grand finals. I am ok either way, Maru vs Rogue or Maru vs Innovation would be an epic finals. Maru skills is stronger than ever along with Rogue. Innovation is also peaking like he always does towards the end of the year. (GSL S3) Going to be so epic.

Anyone out there? With ability to read? One half of the RO 16 will be RO32 quality, and one half of the RO 16 will be RO8 quality. I am not impressed. Let's do some math considering how things should be. Say you start with 8 foreigners vs 8 koreans. That's 8 guaranteed GSLvsWorld matches. Then, suppose 2 foreigners win. You have probably 3 more matches in the whole thing. For a total of EIGHT to ELEVEN matches that fit the name of the tourney. Now let's do some math on the current situation. As it stands, we are guaranteed 4 GSLvsWorld matches in the Ro8. However, hold on. Due to the ecosystem division in Ro16, it's possible that the best candidates vs Koreans are defeated by foreigners who are better vs foreigners. So we basically can have one person advance. That's it. So we get a total of FOUR to SEVEN matches that fit the name of the tourney. Now you might object that you don't want to see high-level foreigners vs. scrappy koreans (cough. Neeb vs. sOs cough.) However, except for the wildcard player in last year and this we realistically don't have a korean who isn't overall better than Serral. And even given that soO is ZvZking so he might pull off a win anyways. End of discussion. I'm really not enthuzed that we will have to wait for Blizzcon before seeing any real GSLvWorld stuff. Blahze.

But this isn't a GSL vs the World Event. This is Jin Air, with Everyone Else fighting for leftovers. Everyone else is meaningfully teamless and coachless fighting for the leftovers. Sponsor-only-type-teams aren't true teams. >>>>>> J I N A I R <<<<<<<<< ----- Miss Valdez, mOOnGlaDe, and Wolf And Apollo
