Keep the mindless hate from this thread. A well argued post is fine, frothing-at-the-mouth hate is not. |

It will be. It isn't "bad" because of a lack of capability and funding, it is a result of a lack of experience.....which they now have.

But if that's the case they should have either started smaller, or hired guys who were experienced.

I just went to the site to see what time the games are today, should be easy to find. Hm no. Ok maybe yesterdays vods are up. Hm no. Ok maybe theres some indication when they will be up. Hm no. Ok lets check the brackets then I want to know who won, surely they are updated. Hm no. Guess I'll do a search for finals then, there's probably lots of stuff about it. Hm no, last newsitem dated july 6 Hm there is a "get your hd pass" button. But I paid for this season? Still, that button is there, maybe I have to pay again for the finals? Maybe then I'll see the finals content? Oh wait maybe not, there's a live match in progress, silly me! Lets click that. Or not... seems it's not really live atm, it's just a Nasl picture and they forgot to remove the live match in progress button. Well lets check the schedule tab then. Oh empty. Ok the video tab then. Oh cool streloks journey to the finals! err wait, he couldn't come. Why didn't they remove that.
Ok I give up Well not really, I'll watch it anyway, but there is a LOT of improvement here. This is so confusing, especially for people who don't browse TL daily. It's just to hard to find any recent info about the finals on nasl's own site

But you need to pay to have access to those VOD...and speaking for myself, im not paying after yesterdays "bad" performance!

Ret facing the best opponent in the tournament first because he was top seed makes me sad . He deserved to at least get to the semi's imo.

That was cruel. I clicked on it to watch the Darkforce games then realised I had to pay. After all that we still have to pay ;(. That's the big difference between MLG/HSC/GSL and what NASL are doing. When the others mess up they don't just ignore it and keep moving. They try make it up to the viewers. I think many people would be way less upset if say they did some of the offers MLG did when their stuff went horribly wrong. It's just a basic lack of regard for the viewers/customers that is the most annoying. The 2 hour delay with no word from an official NASL person is another example of this. I'm not sure if they just don't realise this concept or what.
People gave Sundance a lot of flank but at the same time there was respect for him since he was always actively communicating the issues and working out some compromise to help mend the wounds.

Is there a direct audio recoding of the casting to go with those vod's or are they literally just recordings of the (terrible) stream?
I probably would pay for decent quality vods.

Im not being rude but a big problem with SC is that every progamer thinks theyre also a pro caster/commentator. In pro sports most athletes arnt good commentators its a separate domain. but SC hasnt figured that out yet I dont think
mayne. we don't need that negativity. the best tennis commentators are also players, (john/pat macenroe, brad gilbert, martina navritilova.) and many american football commentators are also retired players. inc and gretorp were a little rusty at the beginning of the season, but i think theyve really stepped it up.
all in all, the nasl is doing a great thing. it's theyre first time and even veteran lan runners like mlg have screw ups too. for the first time, nasl is impressing, and with all of this hype and production value, i think more and more talented players will be interested.

I think it's not the problems they encountered that make people rage about this, but the way they handle them. Every single Problem NASL has encountered, which wasn't a direct result of the format (like the flow of the show) they eventually fixed in one way or the other (well except for the sound problem which has been a pain in the ass since the beginning). But i think the main problem here is public relations. It's no wonder if nerds furiously rage at you if your stream lags horribly or the sound is horrid. That's perfectly normal. But for gods sake acknowledge the problems, don't just tell people "the lag is a problem on your end", "the soundboard says otherwise". I've not seen a single News item on their site actually addressing the problems (well, aside from one in April which vaguely hinted at existing problems and mainly addressed the nerd rage). I can absolutely "forgive" people who acknowledge mistakes being made but i get furious when advice is seemingly ignored or even ridiculed. Especially watching the responses from NASL in the chat or Incontrol's ridiculing another valid concern was heartbreaking for me (maybe it's just me but i hate his self-aggrandizing rants). Overall the communication has been horrid for me. I wrote several emails (some infused with rage others polite) complaining about existing issues and never got anything back. It's understandable that i don't get a whole email explaining everything in detail, but come on, how hard is it to write back "We re working on the issue", or "Yes, Incontrol's Blazers does not fit him at all".
This post here on TL is actually the first time i see them explaining a problem. And instantly my German nerd rage is soothed. How hard was that? Even when the main Event was supposed to start there was no information as to why the games haven't started yet or what the hell was going on. "Sorry for the delay, we are working on it. Games will begin as soon as we fix the issue" as an Overlay; Problem solved. And instead of 30000 people guessing what's going on, and a lot of people raging in chat you get 30000 people who do something else until it starts and some kids who still rage.
Sorry for the Rant, but i had to get that off of my chest. Overall the NASL has been an enjoyable experience for me, but some of the issues just drove me nuts.

So what time does it start today (Saturday)? The website doesn't have any schedules posted.

Hahahahaha, you just made my day good sir. NASL's pubic relations certainly were the crux of the matter.

In 4h and 17 min, so the first game should start in about 6 h.

the idea behind NASL is great bt failing since clash of the titans. i dont kno what i would prefer, 10 sec delay sound like in that showmatch or this annoying sound yesterday

Looks like everything is on the upswing... hope all the kinks are worked out for a great day today

This should teach them to browse TL on an hourly basis :p

Casters that appeal to a wide audience are what is needed for the nasl. Tastosis is a great example, as was the two casters that were present during one point of the nasl, several weeks ago.
