Well whatever it takes to get Shinhan to renew their sponsorship of PL I guess. It expires at the end of this season. It would be disastrous if PL did not have a major sponsor.

Can anybody enlighten me on whether or not you have to pay for tickets or sign up for seats?

It may be that the leagues are overexpanded for the current market interest. While 3 big leagues mightve been optimal at the height of BW in mid 2000s, with the current decreased interest it is time to wrap up some of the activities, liquidate, and continue the ones that can still turn a profit. Not good change for a fan- but to remain active it may be necessary in next season or so. do u have a source for "running at a loss"?

As long as the cost of running PL is comparable or cheaper than other shows that attract a similar audience (in demographic and size) then PL will remain. I have a feeling though that when pro BW dies - it will be killed from within. Someone will have killed the goose that lays the golden eyes.
