Keep any SC2 vs BW comments out of this thread. This is a thread about Brood War and Esports (Tekken Crash, Special Forces, etc) in general. If you discuss what this means for ESPORTS be sensitive about it.

I hope that OGN takes the lead and saves our SC:BW Scene (probably not), but if that doesnt happen its the end for my RTS watching career. Well at least I have Street fighter 4 and MVC3 (or UMVC3)

BW had a great run, but every good thing has to come to an end. Luckily, e-sports fans have more alternatives/successors to replace spectating BW with than ever! The scene is growing explosively with more people coming in basically every day. :D User was warned for this post

SC2 still has the potential to grow. BW can only go down from here. SC2 killed the player base for BW. Even if the pro competitive scene is weak, the amateur scene is what keeps up the game's vitality. There's no new blood for BW anymore.

All I've heard is that SC2 is not as popular in Korea among players themselves. Courage Tournaments are still taking place, rookies are still being recruited, they make frequent PL appearences. Care to explain? Imo, all that BW needs to regain its old momentum is a HD edition - better (2D) graphics, same engine and everything, better spectating features.

They should have let the players keep their licence and keep on playing with some other of punishment like a huge fine and community service. Think about it, in the match fixing, 2 progaming teams are lost and potential players have been lost. It shrunk the scene by a HUGE proportion. If the players still stayed, there would still be OGN sparkys and the soul of eStro (Upmagic) would have still stayed. The whole scene would be more grand than what it is today.

You'll still have SPL and OSL for a while, I guess? I love watching QL as well as SC2, so I'm set even with one of my favourite disciplines and one of the absolute mainstays of esports slowly getting replaced by other games.

Get the fuck out, this happening has nothing to do with sc2, sc2 is not even close to popular in Korea. And no we dont have an alternative, we have a crappy game that we dont like with a foreigner scene much like wc3's.

And while I can empathise (I also felt bad when IEM made the Quake Live announcement), I can't commend you for lashing out against other games and other people like this. :/ You'll realise that this isn't the end of the world once you've slept over it. Hey, maybe check out some other games (I'm not saying it has to be SC2, even, maybe watch some SC2BW or something) and you'll find another e-sport you like. There are more to choose from than ever right now. :D
