Hello TL, I really need some help with this,
Ever since I got Starcraft 2, whenever I've had to download any new maps after a patch, or just some custom maps that aren't on ladder, they download ridiculously slowly. It's so bad that 2MB files I have to just keep trying to download for about 2 hours. Often when downloading maps, it just stops and I can't join any new games or anything without restarting SC2.
I have a pretty awful internet connection to begin with, however I really don't think that downloading a 2MB file should take 2 hours . I never get any lag in game and my ping etc. is fine, it's just when I want to download any maps (come to think of it, even downloading patches takes extremely long too) that I have any problems.
From what I can see there are no problems with SC2 and firewall, although I'm pretty bad with computers so I have no idea.
Thanks in advance!

I had this same problem. I finally got rid of it by changing my firewall settings. I allowed all traffic to and from certain ports (found these ports from the EU Bnet forum by searching, but I guess the information is somewhere else too) that the game uses. In addition I made it so that the firewall won't monitor anything Starcraft 2 does at all.

Tried making sure the ports are all allowed and the problem is still there :S. I really don't know what I can do.

I have the same problem as you Crowels. Every download is slow. And I have a pretty decent speed on my internet connection. Some maps just wont download. They get stuck and I have to restart my sc2.
The problem is not related to router, firewall, antivirus or anything like that. And I can say that with 100% certainty as I used to work with networking for an ISP back in the day, so I should know. And its not related to a certain pc either, so not any hardware issues, like network adapter related.
From searching the web and looking through various posts on blizzard and other forums it seems to be a pretty common problem, and blizzard blames local internet issues or isp, or corrupt files. I have not found anyone with a solution. I have also talked to my ISP, and they dont block any of the traffic. I have friends with the same ISP with no problems what so ever.
This is pretty sad. Can't play testbug among other maps. Not to mention the frustration after a patch with new maps on it. Takes a while xP Just learn to live with it. Honestly I dont think this tread will get any working solutions, but one can prey ^^

why doesnt some1 just upload the maps as a zip and we can manually extract them into the sc2 maps folder?
|
It sounds like a router problem to me.

if anyone has a good answer to this id love it, happens on one of my pc's but not the other, makes no sense!

Even with reinstalling it still hasn't fixed itself, I'm clueless about what I can do T_T. Anybody know what I could actually do to try to fix this?
