Spoiler-ed due to a bit of plot discussion from the manga + Show Spoiler +
If I am reading and interpreting the last chapter right, it appears you have your wish. However, I have no idea how the story will progress given Gon's transformation and the Chairman dying. It almost feels like this should just be "The End".
HxH went from my favorite anime/manga to my absolute #1 most hated. There is nothing worse than HxH anymore. The Ant arc was the biggest piece of trash I've ever seen in my life. Seriously, it was just pure shit. I hope the it ends within the next few weeks so I can at least have some closure. I'll cry if he starts a new arc.
The King chimera ant is dying (he admitted it during one of the recent chapters) and is spending its final hours playing with Komugi. I doubt the ants make it into the next arc and will be forgotten shortly.
On the topic of the breaks, the huge break(s) really killed this chapter to me. It simply didn't flow and the story seemed to be railroaded into a sort of dead end like the author was preparing to walk away from the story.
@Breaks: Yip, same for me. Very disjointed somewhat rushed, artwork detoriating, story getting more long winded to speed things up, and I dunno, massive set up for Gon, or epic fight and it just seemed somewhat bland.
cool there was a hxh thread. definitely my favorite current manga. there is something really special about the way he write this damn story... ant arc is the best so far imo. very interesting and a lot of awesome turns. i hope he doesnt end it soon, im lovin' it and i need more closure than just one more arc!
The new anime series begins on Saturday, October 2. It's going to be a complete reboot of the story from the beginning with an all new cast. I'd assume Viz/FUNimation have already picked up the NA distribution rights (but it's not like that ever stopped fansubbers before).
Seriously... as much as I love HxH, I have to ask... why? The original series was excellent. It's not a situation like FMA: Brotherhood, where they went off and did their own thing the first time around and wanted a second try at getting it right after the manga ended. The HxH anime was almost word for word out of the manga. It had talented great voice actors who were great for the characters and have since gone on to do bigger and better things. It sounds more like a "bringing you the exact same anime as before only newer and shinier" a la DBZ Kai.
The final OVA ended in a good place too. Even though those of us who follow the manga know what really happened next, that final scene was an excellent capstone for the series.
The only thing left for them to do would've been to animate the ant arc. Given Togashi's condition, I don't really see it continuing beyond that. Despite occasional moments of awesome, the manga really went downhill after Greed Island. The storyline was jumbled. The kindergarten artwork and having to wait a year between updates didn't help. Is that worth remaking the entire (92 episode) series? Or worse, they could just pull brand new storylines out of their asses.
I'd like to remain cautiously optimistic. It's not like we haven't seen some fantastic reboots of old favourites in the past. This just seems like a remake for the sake of remaking rather than improving on the original, is all.
man how can the king doesn't take any damage vs nagato's zero seki yet die to radiation from the after effect of a nuke. What a bad way to go, survived the nuke blast yet died to the radiation afterwards? Seriously fuck that shit, and Gon gave up like 2/3 of his remaining life to instant growth huge muscles? WTFmate? and still lost an arm? sheit man how is Togashi ganna savage this mess?
oh by the way we still yet to see the kind to fight at his full strength, he was fucking around with Nagato till the very end.

There is a spider member that can restitch limbs back again, she did that to fix Hisoka's arm after it was cut off.
I agree with others. HXH was one of my fav anime/manga, but the ant arc was total garbage and the drawings became doodles. It's quite clear the reason for its decline is because Togashi lost his passion years ago!

this is truly not the case! yes, at one point the drawings were comparable to doodles, but at least that was during plot development and not fighting. when looking back to the beginning of the siege of the castle, the drawings are amazing and have been since. give the guy a break, just because he had a bad history with yu yu hakusho doesn't mean he wasn't being truthful about his physical condition. just forgive him and enjoy the series...
if you want complain about hiatus, just drop the series and reread it when they start producing every week again... its not that hard. plus the ant arc, i can already see, is very underrated and deserves more attention and praise than you guys seem to give it.
either way... this chapter had a lot of interesting developments! i wonder what kind of state gon is in... and what killua plans to do? maybe leorio and kurapica will get involved finally.

edit: why is the new series going to be a reboot? wha?
Not sure, the first original was really well done in my eyes. Would have loved to see a continuation from after the OVA's but I guess that will never happen. Kinda like D-Gray.Man and Rave Master getting a continuation ._.

Did anyone else get a weird feeling when uvogin killed the shadow troupe guys. Idk if its just cuz it was really graphic or what but it freaked me out...
i'm not really sure if it's because it's been so long that i don't really have a full grasp on what's going on or if it's because it really just doesn't flow well.
Why has the king all of a sudden started to die? It seems like the author wants to end the arc as soon as possible, which is fair does as it seems a bit ... run down.
With the conclusion of the arc going to be next week, I'm curious to see what happens afterwards. I'm hoping that it can go back to it's previous glory!
