Universal Rules
Unless otherwise stated by the host, these rules apply to all TL Mafia Games
Cheating:
Cheating includes (but is not limited to):
1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information.
2. Ruining the game by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town.
3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role.
4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles.
5. Posting screenshots of your inbox.
6. Posting any PM you receive from a host.
7. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip.
8. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts.
9. Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits.
Cheating is not tolerated here. The punishment will be severe.

Editing:
Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing will result in a warning. After that, you will be modkilled. This is the one part of the site where it is okay to be double posting, even triple-posting. While I ask for everybody to post as concisely as possible, post again if you have to edit anything.
Inappropriate posts:
If you want to post something insulting or inappropriate and know the TL mods would have a problem with it elsewhere, don't post it here. If you do, a host will warn you or modkill you and request that you be banned from future games. The hosts have the final say on what is inappropriate. If you do not like how someone is talking to you, please PM a host or Flamewheel before involving the TL staff. If you are unsatisfied with how the situation is resolved, then you can appeal to the TL staff normally.
Reporting posts:
The report button is a nice feature for regular TL, but not for this forum. We prefer to deal with things in house if possible to avoid confusion among the TL staff. If you have a problem with how someone is posting, talk to the host, co-host, or Flamewheel before using your report button. Please do not use your report button for anything other than inappropriate posts which you feel are not being dealt with adequately.
Modkills:
If you break any of the above rules, you will be modkilled and will be banned according to the TL Mafia Ban List. Please refer to it for questions about your punishment.
Ban discussions:
Please wait until this game is over to talk about modkills and bans resulting from this game.
Play to win.
This means you play your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game. However, this does not mean that you should try to win by being a jerk to the other players so they all want to quit playing.
This also means that you cannot leave the game without a good reason without a ban. These situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. PM your host if you need to leave the game.
You have been warned.

Host-Specific Rules
Activity:
You must post in this thread at least once per every 24 hours and vote every day while you are alive. If you fail to do so you will be modkilled. If you are obviously trying to skirt the modkill requirement, you will be modkilled.
If you have to miss a 24 hour or more period, please inform me ahead of time and there won't be a problem. If you are really active but happen to miss a vote, no big deal.
Account Sharing:
On the off chance that anyone wants to account share, please let me know and it will be allowed. Any account sharing will be made public knowledge.
Spam:
Spam is not tolerated, nor is any off-topic material. I will be extremely strict on any spammers. If you have a problem with anyone's excessive posting, please pm me and they will be warned. Second infraction gets a modkill. Let's keep this thread readable.
Game-Specific Rules
Introduction:
There are two problems with dual mafia games or games with Serial Killers. First is the kingmaker scenario, where one party clearly cannot win, but has the power to influence the outcome of the game. Second is the very likely possibility that there will come a point in the game where two factions are so behind that they forced out of necessity to gang up on a third more powerful faction. This punishes good play, provides a safety net for bad play and makes for a somewhat deterministic and inflexible power dynamic.
In order to avoid these scenarios, this game will feature…four factions! There will be 3 mafia factions and a town faction. The addition of a fourth faction allows for a more fluid power dynamic by opening more options to each faction. Factions now have options when deciding who to ally with against a stronger faction, and it is unlikely that a single optimal solution can be found. Smaller, less powerful factions in relation to the entire game population makes large alliances very unstable and promotes plotting and distrust.
PMs are included in order to facilitate your scheming and allow you to show off your strategic and political brilliance. Use them wisely!
Factions:
Commoners (Anarchists)
You are a lowly peasant. You really hate the petty squabbles of the upper classes, and your only desire is to live your life in peace. Thus, you have joined the local anarchist movement and wish to exterminate the nobility. Unfortunately, as you are only a farmer, you probably only have a few farm tools at your disposal. Fortunately, due to a generous donation by a mysterious benefactor, you have a chance to pick up some useful skills to aid you in pursuing your goals. Unfortunately, you do not know the identities of any of the other members of the anarchist rebellion, and have to seek them out yourself. Use teamwork, analysis, and your vote to hunt down and lynch those self-righteous monarchists. You win when all noble houses have been eliminated.
House of Lancaster
Your house is a branch of the royal House Plantagenet descended from John of Gaunt. You wish to consolidate your power and solidify your position on the throne. Unfortunately, you have some opposition, including a couple other noble houses. Rumors have it that a rag-tag band of anarchists also seek to oppose your rule. You can coordinate your draft picks. Being as you are a powerful House with many resources and connections, you have the ability as a group to secretly assassinate 1 player per night. You win when you outnumber the Commoners AND all other houses are eliminated.
House of York
Your house is a branch of the royal House Plantagenet descended from Edmund of Langley. You fear that the Lancastrian ambitions are sinister and wish to take the throne for yourselves. Unfortunately, you will have to face some opposition in order to oust the Lancastrians and assert your rule. You can coordinate your draft picks. Being as you are a powerful House with many resources and connections, you have the ability as a group to secretly assassinate 1 player per night. You win when you outnumber the Commoners AND all other houses are eliminated.
House of Tudor
Your house is descended from an illegitimate son of John of Gaunt of the House of Lancaster. Though you have traditionally supported the House of Lancaster in the past, you harbor secret ambitions to overthrow them when the time is right. Fortunately, the Lancastrians and the Yorkists are weakening themselves by fighting each other in open battle. For better or worse, a third faction of anarchists seek to oppose both you and the other two houses. You can coordinate your draft picks. Being as you are a powerful House with many resources and connections, you have the ability as a group to secretly assassinate 1 player per night. You win when you outnumber the Commoners AND all other houses are eliminated.
Elections:
Following the Draft and Role picking stages, an election will be held for the positions of mayor and pardoner. Please refrain from announcing your bid for office until roles have been handed out.
Mayor
You are the winner of the election. Every candidate running for election must PM me before the end of Day 1 with the name of the player that he/she would like lynched on Day 1 if he/she wins. You can't choose the Pardoner as the Day 1 lynch victim. Your votes count as two votes instead of one. In addition, you possess a list with the names of all the bodyguards.
Pardoner
You are the secondary elected role of the game; the runner up in the election. You may pardon a person who is to be lynched twice per game. You may use this ability on the mayor's first lynch. If you use this ability during a double lynch, each pardon spares one player (so you must use both pardons to completely stop a double lynch). You may not pardon yourself.
Bodyguard
You are the protector of the elected roles. As long as you remain alive, the elected officials (Mayor and Pardoner) will be immune to all forms of death except lynch. Only the Mayor knows the Bodyguards identities. But be warned. Each noble house has the option, by the time of the Mayor election, to substitute one of their members for Bodyguards. Substituted bodyguards do not protect the Mayor/Pardoner unless the Mayor/Pardoner is of the same house as the substituted bodyguard. The remaining Bodyguards are randomly selected from commoners who didn’t get a role after the election. If the number of available bodyguard spots exceeds the number of role-less commoners, the remaining bodyguards will be selected from the remaining pool of commoners. Bodyguards will show up as such to Role Checks.
Draft System
This is a Pick Your Power game. The draft rules are the same as from Pick Your Power Insane, and are copied here to reference for your convenience. (The only change is that you pick a number from 1-20 instead of 1-24).
+ Show Spoiler [Draft Rules] +
Draft System
Each faction will know each other’s identities before the game starts. When sign ups are finished we will have the draft phase. The order of the draft will be revealed a bit later. However there will be a pool of roles. The pool of roles will be picked secretly by draft order via PM. Once that role is gone, if anyone else tries to pick it later they will be notified it is gone and will end up stuck with their Vanilla Role. If you've been following it is entirely possible to end up with Scum Cops, Scum Vigilantes, Town Role blockers and so on.
- There is a list of roles available.
- Starting with the first player in the draft you can pick roles.
- If a role has been picked you will be notified via PM it has been picked and you will be stuck with your Vanilla role.
- Once everyone has picked, the game will start
- Any role can go to any side
Drafting Phase:
The draft order works like this. Every player will pick 2 numbers between 1-20 and PM me. Once I have everyone's selections I will reveal the draft order.
The first number closest to 1 that is picked will be first in the draft order. Of course that would be too easy so if several players pick the same # they ALL will be reset to last in the draft order. Then I would move on to the next lowest number (in this case 2) and the same rules apply. If no other player has picked the # 2 while someone else has, they will become first in the draft order. And so on until I get to #20.
Now the second # picked is used to determine who goes first in the event of players picking the same number. The lowest # of the second # goes first and so on. In the event players picked the same 2 numbers I will once again reset them to the back of the queue(for the order they are in).
Player A - [4][19]
Player B - [1][12]
Player C - [1][6]
Player D - [7][8]
Player E - [3][4]
Player F - [7][8]
Player G - [7][20]
Players B and C both picked 1. They go to the back of the queue. Player E is the next lowest # and the only one that picked 3. He/She goes first. Then player A since He/She is the only one to pick 4. Then Player D would have been next with 7 ahead of B and C, but Player's F and G also picked 7 so they both go behind Players B and C.
Current Order: Bolded players are locked into position.
Player E
Player A
Player B
Player C
Player D
Player F
Player G
Now I just resolve Players B, C, D,F and G. Between B and C, I look at the second #. B has a 12, C has a 6. So C gets to pick before B.
Current Order: Bolded players are locked into position.
Player E
Player A
Player C
Player B
Player D
Player F
Now between D,F and G they all picked the same 1st numbers [7][?]. So I look at the second number to determine their order. Player G has a different number [7][20] whereas D and F both have [7][8]. Same rule as before and G gets to pick before D and F.
Player E
Player A
Player C
Player B
Player G
Player D
Player F
In the case of D and F I roll a dice to determine who goes first since they have the same 2 numbers. For arguments sake lets say F got a 1 and D got a 3 on a dice roll. F goes before D.
Player E
Player A
Player C
Player B
Player G
Player F
Player D
*note: There is a new rule in place. In the event that your first AND second numbers clash with another player you both go straight to the bottom of the order. So if 3 players picked [4][1], [4][1] and [4][7] the 2 players with [4][1] are bumped below the player that picked [4][7] along with the original bump. All in All the most unique number combination gets priority.
Simple right? Of course this is all done to support epic mind traps between Scum and Town for picking #s. Remember once this phase is done you will know the draft order publicly. You just wont know who picked what and what roles got picked ^_^.
If you have not read all the rules, go back and do so. I will not compensate for ignorance!
