...his words per minute certainly is, and his play-by-play can leave you staring breathless at the game, even if all that is going on at the time is a scout probe stealing five minerals.
Grudgematch with Klazart?
Jokes aside, those two make a really good casting duo archon, TB's voice is spectacular.

TB+apollo = TBA (yes it already means to be announced, but I still like it).

My suggestion however is Totapoll. + Show Spoiler + Not only does it mix their names perfectly but it also sounds really badass and a bit like Totempole so they can easily invoke the spirits for guidance when casting

TotalApollo is fine, at least then people will know who the hell you're talking about.
|
What is a TotalHalibruit?
>_>
Looking forward to it anyways, Apollo seems to be so knowledgeable about the players, their styles... well anything really, I wonder how much he prepares for these events.

Apollo is amazing, yes. Afaik he coaches dignitas players now, so its not suprising that his reads and knowledge are so good.

TB, sorry for all the hate you are getting in here. I know you don't like me, but I'll try to say things from my point of view, perhaps maybe to speak for all the haters. I hate to see someone ganged up upon, this is an event we should all celebrate (we don't all post how 'shitty' a tournament is because we all hate, i don't know, 'that player', do we? We don't say gsl sucks because bitbybit was in it, right?) and even if someone hates you more than anyone else, we all appreciate you casting. Could We/I do a better job than you? personally, I think I could... but I don't have the time. I appreciate the time you take to do what you do, even if I don't like how you do it. I know that isn't the most flattering compliment, but I don't at all hate you, and I look forward to a good competition with someone who is kind enough to take the time to cast it.
First off, I think some people are rubbed the wrong way with your wow background. I think a lot of SC players are sort of all about skill, either perceived or not, and wow is definitely perceived as a skill-less game. I think some people feel you just hopped on the sc2 casting bandwagon from wow. It doesn't really matter if this is true or not, because what matters is you are here now, and every cast you do helps the community. Because of you, I watched cool games. Did I wish tastosis or wolf or a million other casters casted it? Sure. But they didn't, and you did, first off, and secondly I really would rather watch the 'worst caster' than download the replay myself and watch it that way.
Secondly I think a lot of people don't like how you lack much knowledge about the game. We get it, one caster is analytical, one is SHOUTcastingⓇ, but even moletrap is KR diamond (personally I like moletrap, don't know why people don't). I know you 'advertise' how you are low level, that you are a playby play, but I think a lot of people are slightly offended when you talk about this so much, as if you should be ashamed about this stuff. And I get it, don't be ashamed about who you are, but a lot of people will tell you that masters, or even diamond league, is REALLY easy to get into, if you just put the time into it. That you haven't put the time into this game, is what people question. Really, the Mr. Bitter statement from his interview encapsulates this point very well.
spoilered because I already posted it: + Show Spoiler +1.) Play the game. Nothing annoys me more than someone who advertises himself as a caster, only to later reveal that he plays the game at a gold level. I'm sorry guys, but you have to understand the game if you're going to talk about it. As a caster, it is your responsibility to sell StarCraft 2 to your audience. A gold league player selling SC2 to an audience is asking to buy a Rolex on the streets in Chinatown.
Mr. Bitter
Third, I think some people dislike your voice. You can tell them to fuck off, because there isn't anything you can do about that besides live in america for 20 years to lose the accent.
So to all the haters, get over it. It's ridiculous to bash a tournie simply because one participant is someone you don't like. Otherwise, every major tournament would be shunned because one of the players is stupid. You can always watch the replays. To TB, just get better at the game. It doesn't take long, but it does take dedication, something many of us feel you haven't proved. Many of us don't find it flattering when you go on and on about how you are still in bronze, we find it annoying, and something we really don't like in a caster - there are plenty of diamond level casters out there that can shout just as much.

I wish you would cast, if only for you to see what it is like to get flamed every day, like every caster that isnt Tastosis seems to have to suffer.
Anyone who doesn't like this casting duo probably didnt watch Dreamhack invitational. They were amazing at that!
As for the game knowledge thing, I think TBs game knowledge is at far higher standard than the league he plays in would indicate. He suffers from dyspraxia which makes multitasking extremely difficult which is obviously something required in SC2 and thus he makes stupid mistakes that hold him back in ladder.
|
^ you don't need multitasking to get to at least diamond, much less masters. And if you suffer from something that makes it 'hard to multitask' than sorry, maybe you shouldn't be a sc2 caster. Just because you have a medical reason to be in gold doesn't make it okay, and you'd get to diamond easily with just game knowledge. playing in lower leagues gives you a skewed understanding of the game.

What does that have to do with anything? I get TB gets a lot of hate, and I think it's a bit unfair, but on the other hand there is a reason for it, something that I think TB can fix. I think there's too much bashing on him in a thread that is a good thing - this is a tournament with TB taking the time to cast, and we could just as easily not have anyone casting it, or even if you don't like the caster, doesn't mean the tournament is bad.
I will thoroughly enjoy watching this tournament, and appreciate TB casting it. I may not like him as a caster, but I appreciate that he's casting.

So you think you can get to Diamond maybe masters with game knowledge alone? SC2 has nothing to do with reflexes, hand eye coordination, not to mention multitasking? Everyone below Masters is either too stupid or too lazy to get the required game knowledge?
Multitasking is pretty important even in low leagues, if you don't scout for instance you are going to lose alot of games to lesser skilled (knowledgeable ;p) players.

What a handsome nerdballer this Apollo!
|
Nice! Its always good to see large events like MLG and now this tourney let the lesser, not as well known community casters do some stuff on the side stage matches. Any word on who main casters are going to be for the people that care about SC2?
|
SC2 has nothing to do with reflexes, hand eye coordination, not to mention multitasking?
High Masters/GM. A lot of people, from pros to staff, have said the same thing.
Everyone below Masters is either too stupid or too lazy to get the required game knowledge?
I said diamond, but people below masters just don't have the time, skill, or knowledge. Most usually, it's lack of time. If you don't play regularly it's pretty hard to rank up, no matter how good you are.
It's not to say low level can't know a lot about the game, but their sense of timings and importance of macro is a little flawed. It's just a totally different ball game, ie mutas are horrible against roach/infestor in platinum, but in masters, it's suicide not to get mutas.
Anyways this is derailing... We all know TB is known not for his skill, but his excitement. I'm just glad he's willing to cast games for us

Great, looking forward to this event.

TB is fast becoming one of my favorite casters. Unlike many other casters he always has a great synergy with whoever he's casting with, especially Apollo. Gonna be great.
|
These two Casters are one of the most entertaining and informative duo's out there in the SC2 scene.
Keep up the good work guys

This is almost certainly my favorite duo.

Mr. Bitter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_MotsonYou don't have to play the game to present it to fans in an entertaining way. This is by far the most ridiculous criticism to use against any commentator of any sport.
I personally just find Mr Bitter's statement hilariously ironic considering his casting of some of the games at IEM NY. DRG's especially, just.. urgh. He went for the 2 base infested terran bust against a forge fe and Mr Bitter literally had no idea what was happening. He just kept saying 'I don't know what hes doing here' when its a build used so much in the GSL.
If you are going to say stuff like the statement he made, you REALLY have to be beyond reproach when it comes to game knowledge, becuase otherwise you are just going to look like an ass.
