All 5 of your tips are good. For a beginner DotA player, its always important to be active or if not at least look active. Spam your spells on the enemy, last hit and deny creeps, ask your teammates if they want you to gank their lane, ALWAYS be involved in clashes. Once your teammates warm up to you and see that you are going out of your way to ask what you need to do, they will give you advice on what to do and not do in crucial points of the game. Oh yeah, and last tip. Always bring a town portal.

- Check your opponents mana constantly. There are times you might be facing a WW/Blink hero and you dont want to engage because he will just blink/ww away, but he may have no mana which opens up an opportunity window, similarly applies to stunners. This leads on to... - Keep a tag on your opponents skill cooldowns, situation where your enemy (eg: crystal maiden) uses frostbite, this gives you approx 8.5 seconds without the fear of being disabled. Obviously you keep a rough count the cooldowns of big ultimates (eg: ravage, overgrowth), but I've gone down to the level of if a Weaver popped out of shukuchi 1 or 2 seconds faster than they should of. - Sometimes you get a feeling that your opponent suddenly became more confident (start approaching you), most likely a gank is coming your way.

I've streamed every game of dota I've ever played. The audience effect kept me motivated to play through the brutal learning phase and learn hero/item builds. The people love me. ;p It definitely helped me become a better player faster, and I'm now at the level where I can teach anyone pretty much anything about the game Are you doing jungle furion? Sidelane furion is counterproductive to the hero, middle is a lot of responsibility for a new player, and jungle isolates you and keeps you from learning important mechanics. Furion truly is a bad choice for learning dota. :p

The day I learned about the small things like never auto attacking but once per enemy creepy and to try to get two hits on your own creep (once at 50%, once to deny) the world just changes lol, the creep push because really important. Also if working in the long lane, pulling or double pulling creep waves is a great way to 1) set up potential ganks on enemy heroes that push too far and 2) get a bit of experience and gold farm for yourself while a carry role can get solo exp. There are a lot more small things such as ward placement (Don't just throw it up on the cliff by rune, worst place to put it in my opinion, there are always better places, especially for the Radiant side.)

To make me feel less guilty, I made a list of all the candidates, and RNG'd winner. And that winner is.... Gurrgeh! Congrats to him! Hopefully he becomes pro at DotA so I can take the credit!

After a few games I was able to farm up quite well and become a proper hard-carry and start slaughtering the enemy. I often found myself standing at a shop to buy something only to have it go into a stash somewhere else.. and certainly my courier usage was more counter-productive than helpful.. but I was very much learning. Not quite sure how ready I am to step into games with people but i'll give it a go sometime very soon.

Because the time wasted running back to heal and stuff and then getting back to battle is much longer than the respawn time. Ie, the exp/gold gain of the enemy hero(es) is lesser than your exp/gold loss from not being in the lane for X amount of time. This is really situational though and you should usually have healing items to prevent these situations.
