The venue and attractions and the sheer number of starcraft 2 players including the players that are able to come to toronto far surpasses the small number in vancouver. There are some good sc2 players in vancouver and have done well in csl but to say the majority of skilled sc2 players reside in vancouver is a joke, wouldn't be able to compare to the players in toronto. In toronto, more players would be able to attend from quebec, montreal, toronto and the surrounding area.
No I am not a joke and nor is this post. There is no joke about the skill of the players in Vancouver. http://www.sc2ranks.com/c/10248/vancouver/#rank:1
I understand that people feel I think you underestimate the amount of fans of Starcraft players in Vancouver. I also didn't mention much about MLGs other games such as League of Legends and Halo but I do know there is a considerable amount of fans and players of both here in Vancouver.
Unfortunately, I feel a lot of people are missing a very key point in my post is the lack of a Pacific North West event for MLG.

I have to give you that, the weed may be better. However in a MLG, numbers is what matters. If there's more people residing in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and other surrounding cities, it's a logical choice to go with one of the 3 cities. Not aaying vancouver doesnt have a lot of people, but considering the geography there's a lot more people in our region. Sad to say, but it's the plain truth. Expect a MLG Montreal or MLG Toronto. The only way Vancouver would actually get it would be because of the language barrier in Montreal, and somehow Toronto rejected it.

Quebec sucks because of the prize pool giving some of it to quebec policy toronto fighting~ !

chicago is one of the biggest cities in the entire world and we have a sick community, i think vancuver, toranto, and chicago all deserve some love=)

I think going to Vancouver is a actually the perfect place to go to START a west coast tour. Seatte Washington is like an hour drive. And under Washington state is Oregon, Then California, to the right Nevada, Arizona. Its easy to see Vancouver, BC being the perfect location to start from, to head back into the west coast of the US.
Also Vancouver City itself is right against the ocean, fresh salmon and halibut, of course its going into the winter season right now, but spring next year or summer? All the fish in BC comes from BC, except I think tuna. Maybe another fish can't remember. But point being that the sushi restaurants here are always very popular and the fish is always fresh. In the summer, some restaurants on Granville island cook fish that were caught only 15hrs ago. Day9 is a sushi freak, he will love it
But like Seattle, during the winter there is a lot of rain, very dreary, then in like January there's a freak drop of snow. Spring or Summer is where you will fall in love. Hope MLG happens next year.

DO IT!!!! Please?!

MLG in canada WOULD BE AMAZING THANK YOU1!!

The only problem is... if Huk loses, they'll start overturning cars and rioting in the streets

I knew telling JP at BlizzCon to make Sundance bring MLG to Vancouver was a good idea. =P
I really do hope that MLG will be in some major Canadian cities (Vancouver and Toronto specifically); it'd be nice to be able to attend the Vancouver ones in person rather than watching the streams.

If you use the argument about population then why did they host a tournament in Columbus or Raleigh? I feel there isn't any major population centres in either area.

MLG Vancouver! Has to happen I would without a doubt buy a ticket to go

And when a foreigner doesn't win the tourney we can start a riot ! j/k Toronto ftw!

I believe you are mistaken as well. The Quebec and Ontario region is further than any other other 2 provinces combined. In addition, MLG Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal doesn't just mean these 3 cities. New York is just a short road trip away and considering it's THE biggest city holding an enormous amount of MLG fans, that's a major addition. MLG Vancouver has arguably the greatest skill level in Canada? So what? The best player there is Vibe. I can throw out names too. I'll give you HuK. That's all you really need. Another? DDE. Skill wise, it's not quantitative that matters it's qualitative. So what if Vancouver has a lot of good players. There may be fewer talented players in our area, but we have BETTER players.
Your CSL reference confuses me. The CSL is great and all, but it's not a good choice to measure skilled players. Only people in the universities are allowed to play. What about the graduated ones? The one's who are pro gamers? I can make numbers too: We have CEX. You should know who he is.(Think) I guarantee you that people would come to see him get trashed and BM him. Why wouldnt he go? It's a MLG a short road trip away. Although he's not as skilled he'll bring in a lot of viewers there's no doubt about it. Numbers > Skilled players who won't make it out of the open bracket.
As for your olympics reference, do you want to know why the 2010 olympics were held in Vancouver? Where would they do the skiing/boarding events? Tremblant? Blue Mountain? The mountains thrre are by far better, therefore leading to a choice to host the Olympics there.
Your areas? We have areas too. Look at Montreal, their Barcraft is being sponsored by major companies. Want names? EG, Razer, Intel and more. I don't see one in Vamcouver.
I understand all your points, but you fail to do the most major thing in an argument. Compare to others and prove why it's better. You said we fail to see the pure numbers? I believe it's you who fails to see our numbers. We aren't one, but many.

From Burnaby here! I would definitely come!

I love Vancouver weed. That is all.
