You have strong opinions on what makes a language good, but at the end of the day you’re a pragmatist and you’ll use whatever it takes to get the job done. You're constantly thinking, 'That would be a great feature to add to...' That doesn't really seem like 'being overqualified' ... it doesn't even say anything specific
Exactly. I looked at the other job descriptions as well and they're lacking in the acronym alphabet soup that you'll find in most engineering job descriptions. This is a good thing.
The bottom line is they want somebody who is smart and passionate about the product. Good programmers aren't constrained by a programming language or technology. Those are just tools. Analysis, design, and problem-solving are your skills.
I'm going a bit off topic here as it doesn't necessarily pertain to the TwitchTV job description. From the sound of it some of you haven't exactly been on the job market for a skill position. Here's a bit of encouragement: nearly every job description for engineering-related positions is going to include a ton of esoteric requirements that nobody has any possibility of having acquired every single one of them. Don't be discouraged if you don't fit the description exactly. Nobody does.

You are stupid if you pass this opportunity. Good luck to anyone who applies and Twitch for finding what they are looking for!
Actually, this is a double-edged sword. The reason companies provide all these perks aren't entirely altruistic. They also want to keep you coding there longer everyday.

man, id apply just for that monthly haircut. why didnt i stay in computer science

Damnit! Nothing for an Economics/Poli Sci Major : (

hmm time to transition from Business Administration to Engineering. I can take cars apart and fix them and stuff, does that make me engineer enough for this? I have a friend who is a few hundred - low double digit w/l ratio in street fighter. Can I sub him in to play for me?

LOL i would love this internship, but i engineer games/ios, live in scotland pretty much the opposite of what i need xD

Wow that Data Scientist job is just perfect for me :O I would apply instantly if it wasn't for all those visa and green card issues etc.

Goddammit, I'm qualified for 3 of those jobs, pretty much. Too bad the US won't let me in. Visa, y u so random. :<

Oh man I just noticed that Advertising Products Engineer listing. I'm more qualified for that one compared to the software engineer job. Especially since my current internship involves mobile advertising (technology side)
I'll be sending in my application tomorrow once I update my resume to reflect that as well as type up a cover letter!
PS: Can I add I'm from TL to further increase my chances of getting in hehe (as a job like this is practially a dream one). PSS: Can I opt to beat Justin or whomever in Starcraft 2 for my added bonus points?
