I couldn't find an official Diablo 3 thread to post this under, but as of today, a new wave of diablo 3 invites went out. I'll be sure to add sources later.
I recieved my Diablo 3 Beta invite, along with 3 of my friends, so be sure to check your battle.net account! To avoid this post from being pointless; If you are in Diablo 3 beta currently,
What is your first impression, best and worst experience so far?
I've only made it to level 6, and first impression is that the game is too linear. Alot of the maps are very narrow, lending almost nowhere to go but forward. Some areas have been slightly larger, but I still get a feel of no choice.
My best experience yet was fighting in the Cathedral, where the monsters start to come in groups of 10 - 20. It really gives the feel that your pumeling your way through hordes of undead.
Along with the thought of being linear, I'm not sure how much choice I get in choosing which abilities to learn or how to progress my character. In diablo 2, the skill tree along with synergies promoted many builds as well as gave the feeling of deciding and playing a major part of how your character functions in combat. Sure the old system was slightly unforgiving if you made mistakes, or didn't know which you were doing the first time you created character X, but at least it gave you options.. I'll continue playing and see if this all pans out.

There's a thread already about beta invites. But as far the the comments you made about the game, the main decisions will be what skills you want to use with the limited slots and runes which are not implemented in the beta.

Diablo 2 didn't start with synergies either. The game is still in development.

Not much at all is in the beta in fact. Being a Die-hard Diablo / Diablo 2 fan, I would be amazed if blizzard could do anything to make me choose to NOT play. From the first hour of game play available (although you can't judge D2 by act 1 on normal at all) I'm drawn to wonder how game play at later levels will differ. I really like the mercenary and crafting systems. Combat seems true to the original, although a bit more streamlined and not so much auto attacking at level 1. Either way, I cant imagine the game coming out later than Jan 24th 2012.

i got dota 2 beta accnt to trade for ur d3 beta accnt if anyone is bored :D

can ppl change email in beta invites?

No beta invite for me still. Shocker. Have lost almost all interest at this point.

I haven't received a beta invite and haven't played D3 since Blizzcon 2009, so maybe I'm saying that to comfort myself because my friend got an invite and I didn't, but part of me doesn't even want to play the beta when I do get invited. Don't get me wrong, I will play (cognitive dissonance) - and I'll certainly like it, but it's so short it'll just feel like a massive teaser.
I'm afraid I'll be disappointed like I was when I played in 2009. (I'm too pessimistic a lot of the time). The first levels of a game like this are usually the most boring ones because of the lack of diversity of skills and whatnot.
You know how at the end of TV shows sometimes there's a preview of the next episode - usually I don't watch them because I don't want to be spoiled. I wouldn't mind having something completely new when the game comes out in retail... On the other hand, when SC2's beta I jumped on it like a rabid beast...
Anyway, I'm a bit jelly.

I read an interview somewhere that they don't want to "over-synergize" builds so that there's more creativity involved, rather than clear-cut builds that stand above all others. I believe the example was that the Wizard once had 3 passive abilities that all aided arcane damage, and being as that you can only have 3 passives active at a time, they didn't want people playing only arcane wizards.

CS:GO beta starts on november 30th according to twitter.com/csgo_dev . That said, you still need to be able to get a key. I got one from a friend who went to PAX who wasn't interested in counterstrike. They said, though, that eventually everybody WILL get in the beta, just that they need time to build up the infrastructure or something.

The crafting ability brings great dynamic. Being able to salvage crap equipment for materials makes every pick-up useful, and allows you to play the game in many directions.
The game itself reminds me a bit of torchlight 2. I was hoping the graphics would be less animated, it would add to the element of horror.
I am a bit confused on the skill selection, though that would take more game experience for me. I am on my first run-through, have made it to level 10, and I am finding this game a good continuatio from where Diablo II left off, at least for character customization and the Diablo-esque style of gameplay.

Damn, I almost got an heartattack, I looked if I got a key, I saw a big DIABLO 3 thing, for a sec, before I saw it was for the website, I thought I got a key T_____T

Blizzard said the exact same shit about Diablo 3, and it still seems as though the vast majority of people haven't gotten keys. Considering that Blizzard also said the D3 beta was going to be considerably shorter than SC2 beta, which was only about 4 months, it seems like the majority of people will unfortunately just have to wait until release to play the game

Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
After reading this thread I remembered a friend that doesnt play SC2 anymore had lent me his account to play on Europe... checked... he has the beta ! Might have known a lot sooner...
