In a recent interview (in Chinese), the coach of the Chinese team Invictus Gaming, iG.EdIsOn, revealed that he is planning to organize a China Union Team to participate in GSTL after Chinese New Year (23rd, Jan).
EdIsOn said during his stay at WCG, he talked with some Korean coaches about setting up a team for GSTL. He is still in negotiation with GOMTV over some details and expects to get confirmed ASAP. Once confirmed, he will set about organizing the team. The China Union Team will consist of around five players from different Chinese teams.

Some updates (thanks to digmouse):

Negotiation among the top Chinese teams are underway, it's up to them to send players or not, currently we can only confirm most iG members will go. There is over 50% possibility that this will come true, but nothing is on the table yet. No problem at all on Korean side, even they might give Code A spots for them.
And EdIsOn said they would go to Korea in March if everything went well. So it's not likely that they will attend GSTL 2012 Season 1.

that would be sick, would love to see more chinese players compete with the best.

Oooooo this would be sickkkkkkk they would probably do really well because of an extreme focus on the team league (no individual league) and the fact there is just not that many replays and info on them.

Mmmm..
Chinese players gogo!

It would be a dream come true if XiaOt and MacSed both play for China Union Team.

Wow, that would be awesome!!

I'm all for this. China vs. Korea would be a good selling point to get even more people to see the games. We also would get to see how the Chinese players have improved after saying they aren't far off from the Koreans; see if they can put up or shut up.
I would guess that the final team would probably be EG or an American/European team.

nice, more foreigners in Korea is good for global eSports!

Finally, a team with Protoss and Zerg centric.

It would be great to see Chinese players in GSTL, especially after their good run in WCG 2011 (3 players in the Top 16).
|
Nice hopefully this move into Korea means we will see more Chinese gamers in other foreign events such as MLG or DreamHack soon!
