It comes when you least expect it. I had for a long time given up on getting any kind of beta (10+ years) for any game when I got my sc2 beta invite. I tripple and quadruple checked that it wasn't some kind of scam before I believed it. Sc2 beta involved 10000x more people than diablo 3... and more frustrating is the fact that the game is finished for few weeks and they only delay the game because of Korean law vs RMAH
Thats not correct, the RMAH and Korean law does not affect the release date, blizzard has stated this before. The delay is due to polishing and "in the last strentch" as they put it, which is alot of acheivment and general polishing and UI tweeks.
Short form: They are still working on the game, but waiting for "laws and RMAH"

We honestly can't know what really delays any game, most of us at least.

If you fallow diablo 3 news you would know that most of the UI changes and rune system changes were made and announced at around August 2011, and a lot of sources said that beta that went live like 2 months later was older version of the game without new changes, just to check if there is any bugs with game. I dont believe they work almost half of the year just to fix UI and rune system... They also said its very important to Blizzard to release the game global at same time, and when you see that game is still not approved by South Korean government. You dont have to be a genius to figure out that "fixing bugs and polishing the game" is just an excuise so people dont get angry that they are not releasing game because of Koreans.
Anyways Blizzard will get final answer from South Koreans in 1st week of January if the game is not approved they will probably (as some sources said) cut off RMAH from Korean D3 and add it in future patch if they managed to convince South Koreans. Thats clearly indication that they doesn't want to wait longer and delay game again...

except DoTA 2 is way better since it's actually the full game and there are more people playing.
Guess people just want what they don't have.

Of course whatever the market will bear yada yada but as far as replay-ability dota2 seems like the much better deal.

I wouldn't trade my dota 2 key for anything :D, it's honestly just so much fun to play, you get bored of diablo 3 beta in a couple hours, you can play dota 2 beta all day and it's amazing, with not even like half the hero's in it yet.

i got Diablo III and Dota2 key and totaly disappointed in both games... Dota 2 cant keep up with the adjustments HoN did to make the game more dynamic and DIII just doesnt feel right atm, also im slightly disappointed in the classes...

Yep, both are horrible boring casualgames. I understand why the hype for those games is completly gone.

I recently happened to watch the diablo 3 announcment video @Blizzcon 2008.. kinda surprised how ready the game looked even back then, ofc artisans, areas and stuff were missing but the basics were there.

So, my friend checked his b.net account and saw he had a d3 beta available to him. He hadn't received any e-mail alerting him to this, so it's possible blizzard sent out another wave of invites..... then again I don't know how religiously he checks his b.net account. Anyways, figured it's worth a bump if they did, I checked mine, no luck though.
