2) Volatility of the game. All-ins and timing attacks are too strong on the current ladder maps, leading to rampant abuse of it. 3) The inability of Blizzard to properly balance the game in interesting ways. Basically, bad game design, on top of poor metagame development, and inability of the developer to do anything good with their game leads to dramatic drops in population.

Why would I delete that peice of SC2 gold? I intent to pull the images and put them in the BM thread when I get the chance. It was amusing, but a waste of my time in the end.

Everyone seems to be playing the weakest race though despite all races being represented. It's a paradox. I hate it when people say that.... I have played toss and zerg and they are easier (for me anyways). I just hate the units, and like I said, ZvZ makes me want to kill myself, ugh :/

Coinflips SUCK. - I don't play on the preschool server, I'm on epicwinzlol EU EDIT; I wouldn't mind it if they knew when to cheese, or how to spot a weakness, I mind it 'cause they don't even think. well clearly you still only win 50% of the time because your not rank 1 GM so your just making stuff up.

1. I can't stand Blizzard maps, I honestly don't like any of them. The ladder should use GSL maps. I think there are only 7 maps to choose from and since most of them are terrible I have to thumbs down 3 of them, meaning my map pool is effectively 4 maps I don't even like. 2. I can't influence which matchups I prefer to play; THIS IS A BIG DEAL TO ME as I am zerg yet I prefer to play Terran vs other zergs. Being forced to play ZvZ 10 matches in a row, on maps I hate no less, just makes me wonder why I bother with the ladder at all. 3. I can not keep track of my statistics on battle.net because Blizzard thinks that would be too much for my feeble mind to handle or something. I'm not downloading 3rd party software just so I can look at how many losses I have accumulated and with what races. 4. No clans/guilds. No clan tags unless I want to spend 60$ on a new game which... lol no. 5. Chat channels are a joke. There should be a chat channel for every rank, bronze through GM, and only people of that rank or higher should be allowed to join those channels. Just like on iccup. I usually keep IRC open in another tab just so I don't have to use Blizzard chat channels. 6. I can't take a break from laddering by playing a fun UMS map because there aren't any. The same popular ones have been played over and over since beta. I'm sick of them. I do not want to play Nexus Wars and I do not want to play Special Forces EZmode shared income. Fun or not has never been fun at all for me personally. 7. Laddering is based off a hidden number I can't even look at called MMR. edit I better stop before I convince myself never to play again. This stuff starts to look really bad once it's in front of your face.

People feel alone in the emptyness of Bnet and thus don't want to come back.

Also 1v1 is not that fun. I like to play games with friends, so other games like LoL and BF3 are a priority. Starcraft ladder is a lonely game and with alot of stress. I like my games to be fun and to not take alot of time in order to play them at a proper level.

Anyway as more of the casuals get weeded out, the game quality from each player will improve. Somebody that is diamond now would have been mid/high masters a couple seasons ago. 90% of them play WoW ^^

Some people have good points tho, the lack of good social features that would keep people playing the game is amongst the most influential issues. Also, lack of guaranteed gain from laddering. After you finish some achievements and sit for 3 seasons in 1 league you will not be motivated you to ladder more if you don't have the strong desire to improve.

I think we can safely assume that he loses to some of it too. I lost to some amazing cheese this weekend, including some "proxy starport, raven, bashee viking nonsese off of 2 bases" that totally baffeled me. I just failed to notice there was a starport missing and was worried about his mass of marines(I assumed I had missed the starport and he was going to doom drop me). I miss played a little and he got lucky that I didn't find the starport. I guess he is the better player then, because I am never going to see him again.

There is nothing to do inside the game other than 1v1 - 4v4 and custom games (only a few of the custom maps are playable though because of the shitty system), and if you dont have any friends inside the game, there is absolutely no feeling of community because chat channels are shit. If you just want to talk to people about starcraft all you can do is alt+f4 and go to teamliquid, reddit or some other alternative starcraft communities because you sure as hell won't find people in chat channels. (unless you know some of the hidden gems)

This quote sounds like a slap in the face for all those people that played 10 or 12 years Starcraft. It IS possible to design those games. But SC2 is not quite such a game, the reasons why have already been stated (scouting being too weak, all-ins being too strong). This results in laddering being more work than fun. And that for a Game... Maybe this changes with the addons? Who knows.

I hope that this situation be fixed soon... or otherwise, starcraft2 only will be a game for professionals to earn money. Which isn't the main goal of a video game imho.
