Marketplace which was renamed to Arcade is the main? battle.net 'improvement' for HOTS (will be patched into vanilla too). In early concepts 'Arcade' button replaces 'multiplayer' button in Bnet UI so the marketplace can be accessed as easy as possible. Current 'multiplayer' button will be combined with 'single player' button. So to start a ladder game you might need couple of more clicks. For more information you can view the Blizzcon 2011 panel regarding the Arcade:

You haven't probably played sc1 or wc3. But b.net 2.0 has way fewer drop than any other RTS in the last 10 years. There was nothing worse in Company of Heroes to be winning and have someone just pull the cord to get a DC instead of a loss.

While I wouldn't pay for any of the maps that are out there right now, I could see myself paying for extraordinary maps or mods where I could be sure of continued support (I think Blizzard has to implement some kind of refund service in case the modder no longer updates the map when it gets bugged through patches etc.). And I'll buy HOTS for sure, mainly for the campaign.

I have to say the 'Blizzard can do no wrong' attitude is kinda gone.

HotS may be different, but I'm sure it will also be great. Will absolutely buy HotS, probably more than 1 copy.
