1. Care enough about LordJerith's posts to come up with the scheme in the first place. 2. Tweet bait 3. Nab screenshot 4. Edit in GIMP or similar 5. Upload to pic hosting site 6. Draw up long post explaining why you hate everyone in vVv and include a link to the screen cap at the end.
That's a lot of effort!

The "calender" the topic is about, as I understand it is the stream event calendar. If people can't watch the linked stream without paying the functionality is not same anymore. To a degree gom is questionable that way as well but at least people can watch it for free. You have to draw the line somewhere for what is more advertizing than helpful information for the site users and it seem like the purpose of this event calendar(from reading posts in this thread) is meant to be a stream event calendar and not a calendar that lists all events.

What exactly has vVv accomplished, im confused

On February 25 2012 02:18 TheAntZ wrote: It would take me the entire day to read this 45 page thread, but I would like to know where to point my pitchfork, so could someone please summarize the drama?
The summary:
MLG goes PPV and offers referal program which TL declines (for future reference, vVv accepts).
TL decides that PPV on calendar is advertising for them if no free stream is allowed, so as per advertising rules ask for a fee.
MLG, deciding the fee was sufficiently higher than they were willing to pay believed there was no point in negotiating and decline.
People discuss whether calendar should be for all information regardless, whether they were doing it to punish MLG or not and whether they support the decision or not.
Rumour crops up that a TL leak said they were asking $10,000 to put MLG Winter on calender.
LordJerith (vVv) posts negatively about TL on Twitter.
Rumour denied by TL.
LordJerith says that his source for the $10,000 is reliable and unless TL release figures he'll stick by it.
TL denied again.
LordJerith posts negatively about TL on Twitter again.
LordJerith again states his position.
TL staff member warns him to stop posting in the thread.
LordJerith posts asking if he really should stop posting and what would the consequences be if he didn't, seen by some as provocative.
Edit: According to Torte De Lini he was banned for posting a meme image. In the post as it stands no such picture exists, but I'd trust Torte De Lini as a source so adding this edit in. Either way, the discussion that followed was about the post as it stands without an image, regardless of the actual ban reason.
TL temp ban LordJerith.
LordJerith continues posting negatively about TL on Twitter again.
TL accused of banning him to suppress the information and to just shut up dissenting opinion.
Arguements over whether TL is right over advertising, MLG, LordJerith continue with vVv members and supporters posting to oppose the decision to ban LordJerith.
That's about everything. Tried to be as objective as possible, but if it appers there's an unfair TL bias anywhere that probably is my fault. Seems like a bit of a stupid arguement with a lot of miscommunications and silly rumours to me either way, in what is essentially a policy announcement - unless you believe the claims that TL was purposely trying to harm MLG that is.

the 5 first points take a max of 2 minutes if you can handle a computer. Still cant see the "trouble". Also telling people to care less about the thing they are disccusing is abit hypocritical aint it?

TL, if you are going to stand up and attempt to portray transparency and talk about your dedication to your sites objectives and how that doesn't include listing PPV events then please do tell us all what reasonable price you gave MLG for a sponsored thread. I'm sure that a number of your community would feel differently if the price as $1000 s $50,000....

You do realize Jerith was temp. banned for reposting a meme picture? Memes aren't allowed, epsecially ones that are condescending towards the very site he wants to get comments and a reply from. It's just counter-intuitive to do so.
Oh and the problem with Jerith's source is that it's false (he said it's a TL source, which it isn't).

Torte de Lini where would the drama be if he was banned for something so cheap. Everybody wants drama, make it happen and enjoy the show

Honestly why does it matter what the amount was? Who cares if it was a million dollars or a 100 dollars.TL felt like they could provide a service for MLG and asked for what I'm sure was their fair assessment for what they felt that service was worth. MLG didn't feel like it was worth it to spend the money on what TL was offering, hence just a rejection and no negotiations. That's it. There are no bad guys here and form what it looks like it really does not seem like there is any bad blood anywhere except with vVv trying to create extra drama just so that their name is out there. How is it any of our business what the internal dealings of two business organizations are? We're lucky HB told us about any of the process so we get an inside look at how the industry is functioning. But honestly this is why you don't ask a butcher how sausage is made. Just be happy with the end product.

I'm all for drama, just not false sources ): It would help Jerith's credibility if he had any idea of processes when it comes to advertising and sponsored topics not just on Team Liquid, but in general. He really has no idea what he's talking about nor of context.

I love it. Especially when he was so very, very wrong.
I feel the same way that most probably do. I appreciate TL sticking to their guns as it maintains their integrity in the community. The unfortunate part is that a large tournament that many of us support will not be listed on Teamliquid where many of us spend a decent amount of time each day.
In the end I don't see this hurting anyone. There may be a few people that take this situation to heart like my friend jinixxx123 and make silly decisions but they will only be hurting themselves.
MLG and TL are both awesome. Keep being awesome.

This. MLG and TL's interests do not align in this issue, but neither of them are trying to paint the other as the bad guy. It's simply a business deal that didn't fall through.

I am not convinced by the reasons, at least it could be listed for information purposes without a direct link. Its a business decision by TL which is fine but i do not agree.

Well policy explanation as it refers to the situation. Basically I do agree entirely with you, but I was just trying to keep my pro-TL bias out of the summary post.
Also to that end, I've added Torte De Lini's post info to my summary, though I didn't see any meme image posted myself.
