Marine-tank-viking you say? Sounds like a job for high templar and a shitton of zealots to me. Remember, though, any composition with a lot of tanks, especially one where they are trying to hold down a central location like on Antiga, is vulnerable to mobility plays, particularly warp ins and blink stalkers.

Hello. I've got a question regarding PvP. How do you defend a korean 4 gate (50 gas, only zealots)? I have no problem scouting it, but I don't know what the best response is. I don't think I've seen this build in a professional or high level game since way back, so I never saw anyone actually deal with it.

Some sort of 2gate before Core build (like Adelscott's build) will work pretty well because you'll be able to chrono enough Zealots out to deny their Pylons and to kill their first warp-in of Zealots, and Cannon defences will also work pretty well. And don't engage Zealots with Probes - they have to do economic damage to be even with you so just run the Probes away if you have to. Be weary of DT follow-ups (another reason to get Cannons) - that's what I do if I use this build and deal enough eco damage to continue on. EDIT: Or basically anything that could also defend against a proxy 2gate. EDIT2: Denying their Pylons with 4 Probes on each will do wonders too. If you react fast enough.
although usually you will have already planted assimilator and many times core before you scout this. any idea if you'd already placed cybercore best way to go about it anyone?

a terran opening i've seen become more common is 1 rax fe into about 5/6 naked rax pumping pure marines....then they attacked with about just 20ish naked marines. if you've gone 1 gate fe I am having trouble holding it. it hits very shortly after warpgate therefore i dont have enough stalkers out to do decent damage kiting back to my base. also by the time your observer (if going up to 3 gates and a robo after expanding) reaches their base to see this it's too late to do anything about it?
i would post a replay but the last game it happened to me in I gave up the nexus but made a miraculous comeback and I believe it's bad manners to post up a replay of winning a game without the losers consent. I just wondered how other players dealt with this....should I chrono warpgate more after expanding against a gasless fe so warpgate is done clearly before their push....could I get an earlier forge as I usually play double forge anyway and cannon up whilst teching to colossi? how many cannons would i realistically need against say 20 marines, do cannons work well against marines? could I get away with just two cannons with my gateway units.

I guess the gate route could be better. Just can't kill enough marines fast enough to be cost effective with colossi when they're getting shot to pieces by tanks and vikings. Should that be the default vs. Terran instead of robo, unless mech or marauder-heavy is scouted? Also should you make archons to tank? Hallucinations?

You just have to micro well. 2 gates, chrono out a zealots then 2 stalkers. Go into stalkers (4gate) after that. You have to micro.

if you scout him early enough, you can just cut some probes and save all your chrono for WG. get 4 gates and you will come out ahead, since you are making zealots + stalkers and he is spending all his money on pylons and zealots.
your first warp in might be a few seconds before his, but as long as you don't lose too many probes you should come out ahead.

I put this in the simple questions/simple answers thread, but I think it is better off here
I have a quick question, regarding a build that one of my teammates do. It is in pvz where he will go fast lair and go for quick hydra ling off of a 3 base, and then after holding off your initial push he will tech to mutas and drops and start to harass you at all angles. Now I normally go storm after my +1 lot attack, but it feels like im to spread out to deal with everything that comes from it. If there anything that you would recommend that I could do to hold the hydra drops and the mutas at the same time, and if there would be any way to deal damage early on to this build.

Most maps you can hold off a 4gate by a single forcefield and scouting pylons around your base.

meant to say that your warpin will be a bit after his, if you try to 4 gate defensively. I've had this work against me when K4gating (and I've done this build MANY times) but it only ever works when they scout me first and also have a nice simcity/no artosis pylons, and haven't spent any more than 2 chronoboosts on their nexus already.
But yeah, chronoing units out of 2 gates is generally a better way to deal with it. Even sending about 4-6 probes to take down each building pylon works too, if he's really committing hard to spreading them around your base.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I open with a 3 stalker rush, so get the 2nd gate in any case. So if i understand correctly, I should get the first stalker out asap to kill the probe, then just chrono zealots out of my 2 gates and kill off his pyons? Do I have the dps to kill off 4 pylons fast enough that way?

Having the exact same issues. Could someone please elabore more on a defensive and/or offensive way to play against this? I just warp in a couple rounds of Stalkers. The first round I use to pick at the Marines as they cross the map. The next round is used for defense near my ramp. You have to have to good micro; the onus is on the Protoss to survive. You need to make sure you don't lose units that require Vespene, or probes. If you do this, then you'll be ahead. If not, then you'll be behind (more than likely).
