To answer people's questions / concerns:
- SC2 is somewhat different from regular sports: Kobe is only judged based on his NBA performances because there's literally no other leagues for him to participate in. CSL players participating in other events is huge for many reasons and deserves recognition. For example, Stalife has long been one of CSL's best players and has competed in "major" events like MLG's and even advancing through the first few IPL events. YaTa had a really nice run at the most recent MLG, Spanishiwa is one of the most popular players (plus he helped carry Davis to 1st at the CSL Regional LAN). There are good reasons why every player on the lists were chosen.
- Are there other players who should be on the list that aren't? Probably. But we have to cut it off somewhere, and there will always be more people qualified than there are spots. Everyone who applies to a college that is qualified to go doesn't get accepted. Is it unfair? Maybe, but it's also just the reality of the situation. A college can't afford to admit every single qualified student, and we can't have every qualified player in the league in this event for logistical purposes.
- Why not have a qualifier? CSL resources are taxed: running the playoffs, maintaining the website, and planning for the finals is literally full time+++++ work for the few administrators we have. Unfortunately, we are very understaffed and we can't add on more work and realistically expect it to be done well. If we can't run a qualifier tournament fairly and smoothly, it's better to not do it. In the future, as we grow and we have a stronger and larger administrative base - we of course want to look into hosting qualifiers for these types of events since qualifiers are the most objective way to go.
- Why not have a player from each of the final 2 teams participate? This is a good idea and is something we'll consider (we do have a month to decide). So stay tuned for that...
I hope this answers people's questions sufficiently! Please be happy that we are working hard and putting our own money into trying to help our community grow and flourish.

How is it unfair? It's a popularity contest, if it was based on results it would be an invite, if it was based on skill it would be a qualifier. On paper I have the best results of this group, so take of that what you will...

I just don't think Spanishiwa does, but name recognition and being the first to tap into reddit will be the only 2 criteria that decide this unfortunately.

There will be similar events in the future, so this isn't the end all be all event for up and coming players. The ultimate goal is to have regular events such as this so we can showcase the entire talent pool in the CSL. It'll just take one event at a time.
It's good to know that there are ace players from all over NA with a very strong community backing. It's a bigger incentive to focus on events that can highlight individual players as well.

It's a matter of money, so it's definitely important to the teams and players.
I wish the coordinators and the community was involved earlier in the process -- sucks that our #1 seeded team has not even a single player represented in the poll.
Smells funny that's all.

IU has some good players that should have been on this list, such as giX and Murder - but they've not played at all in the CSL this season, and as far as we are aware, giX took a leave of absence from school to live in the Reign house (which is also why TriMaster is not included in this poll).
Again, as we've said before - not everyone can be happy with the # of selections. We do try our best to make as many people happy as possible!
