If it's on paved (stone) ground, it's a private basket and you shouldn't take anything from it. If it's on normal ground it should be public and you're free to use stuff in it (but be considerate - don't just jack all the food or curios and not refill it later).

Lore of the Lumberwoods requires 6 sparks & embers, 6 Law & law, 8 Frontier & Wilderness. Well I got the stats, but the skill name (lore of the lumberwoods) changed color from red to orange. I still can't buy it.

i know its only beta but who ever decided that everyone starts in same area until getting 20 silver is retarded. i like the food system (black bile and such) however since everyone has picked all the food dry of the starting area i often JUST manage to get something to eat before starving to death, 4 hours i spent trying to find anything that would get me something. i got a single indian arrow head. which still leaves me needing 5 gold. if i wasn't such a H&H fan i wouldnt have even lasted 1 hour. the fact leaves aren't respawning on maple trees means you have to travel at LEAST 1 hour in any direction to get any sort of curiosities that help you get spark and embers. everything about the start is just yuck. i want to spawn in the wilderness start my foraging my fireplace my leanto and then go from there. i do not want to spend 4 hours exploring a desert like landscape looking for a speck on the ground just to get the 20 silver to spawn in the wilderness. disgusted really, i feel like i've been severely punished by getting my invite a day late. i wont be playing until the big issues have been fixed and solved.

Or you could of jumped in IRC travelled to the TL village (about 50minutes walk from boston) and have as many curios as you need to get any and every skill you could want until you are self sufficient and can repay the favour to any future newbies. That options still available fyi.

Now fill the stats bars again (it changed to orange because you now have enough space in your bars). Then you can buy the skill

For this we will use an imaginary curio item, an apple, and some imaginary stats and skills (Eating, Peeling, Cooking for stats and Johnny Appleseed for skill). Now, let's say that the skill Johnny Appleseed has the following requirements to learn: 500 Eating 600 Peeling 500 Cooking When you hover over Johnny Appleseed you will see three red bars pop up. These bars represent the above numbers. In the case of Peeling, the bar will be bright red. This signifies that you don't meet the level requirement (as Peeling requires 6, but you're only at level 5 right now). Our apple curio provides the following stat gains: 530 Eating 780 Peeling 400 Cooking If you mouseover the apple icon it will do two things. First, it will display in the tooltip the actual numbers it provides to each stat. Secondly it will display blue bars over the skills (same information, but these bars don't contain the numbers like the tooltip does). In this example the apple curio would show a full Eating bar, a full Peeling bar, and a partial Cooking bar. Before we can learn our Johnny Appleseed skill we need to level up Peeling to 6. After using the apple curio we will have two green bars (Eating and Peeling) and one unfinished blue bar (Cooking, since it only provides 400 out of the 500 needed to level). At this point we can't learn our skill yet because a) We need 100 more Cooking, and b) We need one more level on Peeling. If we click the green bar for Peeling, it will spend our 500/500 points to increase Peeling to level six. This is how you level up stats. After reaching level 6 the bright red bar will turn to dark red and you now meet all the requirements to learn Johnny Appleseed. What's next? Well, we use another apple curio. This once again fills our Eating and Peeling bars (because the apple curio provides more than 500 Eating and 600 Peeling) but still leaves our Cooking bar unfinished, as the apple only provides 400/500 Cooking. This leaves us with two options: 1) We can use another apple to fill the remaining 100 Cooking, thus allowing us to learn Johnny Appleseed. This is a bad choice because the apple would be wasting 500+ Eating and 700+ Peeling points since we're already capped on those. A better option would be... 2) Use a different curio to fill in the remaining 100 Cooking we need. Let's say we have an orange curio that provides 50 Eating, 50 Peeling, and 800 Cooking. We also have a potato curio that provides 150 of each stat. In this case the best choice would be to use the potato curio to finish our skill requirements because it wastes the least amount of stats overall (only 350 total stat points wasted) compared to the orange curio (800 wasted) or the apple curio (1,000+ wasted). Once all three bars are full, we click on Johnny Appleseed to learn the skill. Basically, curios all provide different benefits and it's best to mix and match them to waste the least amount of exp. Tumbleweed is a curio that provies 2,000-3,000 exp to about six different stats. Using this at the start of the game is a terrible idea because your stats only take 500 exp. Likewise using this to level a single stat is also a bad idea, as it would be much more valuable to use this to train a skill that needs 3-4 of the stats it provides.

Ramdom adventures I hade: + Show Spoiler + ay1= Took me 2 hours to learn how to build a little fire. I felt so stupid the moment I understood how to do it right without the workplace disappiring on me ^^" ay2 = After adventuring for far to long in the wild I settled down in a nice river conjuction, perfect place as to no lose my sense of direction. The next day I found out that 5 frienly russians had settled down next to me to!, really nice people and well organized. ay2 = I went to battle for the first time, the enemy you ask?; a grasshopper. Easy right?, well fuck no!, I had 10 hp and the little rascal was hitting me like a truck >_<. Thanks to my luck, I've the Jesus Crist skill (swiming that has the same visual graphics as walking) so I escape the monster with 2hp left D: Earlier that day I tryed to fight a ball of fur that was jumping all over the place... luckily I never got to hit it.. God only knows how much that thing would have raped me if I've done that. ay2= Knowing how to swim I adventured myself to the far wilderness crossing swamps, wastelands, mountains and "autumn" forests. While looking under every rock, behind every tree I found lots of herbs, foods and new items. Unfortunatly all the adrenaline that kept me on searching for new more powerfull items, cost me my home for I was lost the moment I came back to my senses. Going back home was not an option anymore, I tryed to find another human beeing but I was to far deep in the wilderness for that. Afraid and alone, I climb the highest mountain with my trusty rope and settled down at the top of it. I'm going to try and find the TL village , I'm not the heremit type and like to enjoy the company of good people

Nice!, gonna try to lvl up some offensive skills and try it :3 ALSO!, BE AWARE!! of the study/eatable item DEVILS ROOT (don't quite remember the name, but it has something with Devil). As long as you eat it WHILE powering up stats, it won't try to kill you. A few seconds ago I ate one of those instead of studying it and KNOCK ME OUT (I took away all my black vhile and 5.2 of hp). Worst thing is that it teleport me to Boston and made me lose ALL my stuff I had with me, I lost a lot of high lvl ispirationals ^^". Well, I had to go back to Boston to find the TL village anyways and it was a learning experience so it went 50-50
