You license someone to drive a car because it's dangerous to have untrained motorists. There are absolutely no risks to having an untrained gamer. Refresh me if you understand this better, but I do not see the point.

Wonder how they'll sort out some foreseeable issues like pro-gaming licences. Blizzard should have a lot of experienced players to get advice from now, for developing HotS, they better make good use of it.

There is a fear that the license system is similar to literacy tests used to keep voters out in American history. In similar cases, I have heard that it was difficult for foreigners to obtain a license for broodwars. What's to stop KeSPA from not granting someone a license just because they don't feel like it? The point is, pro-gamers don't need a license to play. GSL has been running almost 2 years now without licenses for gamers...works just fine.

Refresh me if you understand this better, but I do not see the point. it stops random scrubs pretending they're pro because they somehow got into GM. the term "pro" in korea has a strong connotation of official status. having a regulating body is ultimately good for the scene in general. the GSL is regulated by GOM rules and regulations, and the tournament for getting into code A is akin to the courage tournaments (where pro/semi-pro licenses could be won).

Foreigners just suck. they even gave idra a license cause he was 2 bad 2 win one. on the other hand u have guys like desrow or whatever calling themselves pro.

Having a progamer license meant massive tax cuts when it comes to winnings. It ensured that random scrubs don't have the same priviliges as trained professionals. The tax regulations have changed since then, though.

You should hear what the BW pros said about sc2 and how many of them are incredibly depressed at this news, and even more are leaving esports altogether. Korea is going to keep rejecting this sad excuse for a successor no matter how much Blizzard/GOM try to shove it on us. Care to provide a source for that? Back it up. I can't remember any news where a lot of them are depressed. What about the one about how Flash was enjoying it? Everyone ignores those right ?
