MVP best Terran atm is pretty bold as well, he has yet to beat Squirtle, the strongest Protoss at the moment. I would easily rank MMA, MKP and probably aLive on the same level as him, not incl. 2011 of course. Basically IM-SK = Top 3 Prizemoney getters.

MMA has been losing to everyone lately, and aLive isn't a fair comparison at all. He hasn't done anything in the GSL lately. Squirtle as the strongest Protoss only happened because everyone said Parting, and then he got destroyed by MVP. Questionable assumptions? It was literally less than 2 weeks ago when everyone said Parting would run the table on his remaining matches.

PartinG was said to have the best PvT, but I ve already said Squirtle is the best Overall Balanced Protoss, with no real weakness. aLive IPL4 title still is as big as a Code S title, so he can be compared with anyone.

I agree with you that Squirtle is probably the best Protoss at the moment, with ridiculous PvP, PvZ and PvT. It just frustrates me. He's really good and everything, but he seems to lack flair, and he doesn't WOW me. Maybe it's just bitterness as a long-time MC fan, but while MC had the most ridiculous timings in PvT, it was actually very exciting when he did so. The Forcefields and constant aggression were fantastic to watch, and almost all of the best PvX series ever have included MC. Similarly, he has had very exciting and many "WTF" moments, which just added character to his play. Squirtle, on the other hand, is generally pretty uninspiring. His PvP is probably the best in the world, but he doesn't play in a particularly interesting way. His PvT revolves around the shittest, dullest 2base Stalker-Colossus timing in the world (however, his lategame play is pretty sick - no more interesting than any other top Protoss, though) and his PvZ, while really good, is not stupendous. Basically, he's solid but lacks the key flair and style of the Big 3 from last year. I know that the title of Best Protoss is given for skill rather than style points, but if Squirtle continues to do well I can easily see myself losing interest. Aside from 1 great game against MVP about a year ago in GSTL, why should I be interested in him? (Genuine question, not rhetorical) edit: perhaps more suitable as a blog post.

LOL what does beating the strongest Protoss have to do with laying claim to the title of best Terran.....????

it sucks that the walkover had to happen and not a quick squeeze of another team could've made it in. that means group b chances of advancement are way easier than group As.

Sucks imo. | ||

I like to place each player I follow into one of two sets: I follow because he's good vs I follow because I like him(interviews, personalities, etc). Example: I'm a Zerg player. Even though I didn't like Stephano as a personality, I had to respect his dominating play so whenever he was in a finals or something, I watched if I could. Likewise, ViBE isn't placing top 4 in every tournament but I like tuning into his stream because of his interaction with the chat. When a player is on top, more people study him--his style gets figured out. When I follow a player because he's good, I like to see how that player develops and if he can continue his streak of dominance; how long will it take for others to force him out of his 2 base Colossus style in PvT and what's his response going to be? Even if he's winning with boring strategies now, he's at least smart enough to think of the strategies, so what, if anything will he do next? etc. I guess the general theme is following development of strategies.
