I've got the exact same mistake when starting a new game in BGII or ToB without any modifications to the game. BG1 ran fine until I started with the mod and I'm playing without it at the moment but it's kinda demotivating to know that BGII will bug once I finish the first part Try disabling/enabling hardware acceleration in the game's options and try to vary the settings for shadows in-game.
thanks will try the shadows. Hardware acceleration was the first thing I tried. No effect

So I just installed easytutu and widescreen mod and now my Baldur's Gate 1 looks like this, hope I don't have to install everything all over again.

I had just installed this game like a week ago and I love this game it so close to the orginal which i grew up on as a little kid man good times i might just play this more and more.....

It's been a while since I got it working with easytutu and over the easter holidays I finally found time to spend the first 5-7 hours in BG1. It's simply amazing how this piece of ~15 year old software can draw me in and amaze me same as BGII did 10 years ago.
I need some help form you guys though Being the RPG nerd that I am I already planned about 150 hours of playtime ahead and I'm not sure how the importing of BG1 Characters into BGII works. Do I import my party members too (I'm mainly talking Imoen and Minsc) or will they be the cookie cutter Party members of Part 2 in any case (skill-wise)?
|
You'll just import you, and meet new (well, 'new' ^^) partymembers in BG2. From memory I say that you can either export your char from the last save from BG1 and then import that when creating the BG2 one, or just load it from the last save itself - but it's been a while so I'm not sure if the last option actually works the main thing is you will just import yourself.
It is an awesome game I agree, really want to play myself again but kinda waiting for the enhanced edition... not sure if I'll be strong enough to though ^^

you will be able to import your main character from the bg1 save file to bg2.
for that reason it will be nice if trough bg1 you can give the +1 tomes ofagil/strenght/we ur char needs.
When u got a dude with main stats at 19 to start bg2 itll be strong. What I did for myself was play the game with 6 created characters and use the main dood from bg1 as a sidekick to my main. Those were the good dayz of LOL OP bg2 parties hehehe. ( what was cool though was creating 4 chars a playing bg2 with 2 npcs at a time u your party to solve their quest and then move-on )
soooo many hours spent enjoying that series. Icewind Dale games were cool as well but the storyline was lacking compared to the overall ballz2thewallz awesomeness of bg.
|
The most OP party I ever had in BG2 was my single char run as a sorcerer never used the option to create the entire party in BG2, I liked it in IWD but somehow it didn't appeal to me for BG. Might give it a go on a future replay.

So what do I pick when I start the game with the addon installed?
It's my first time ever playing the game. Just bought it off GoG an hour ago.
Do I go through Shadows of Amn first and then go on with the same characters to do the Add On?
|
Yes, start with Shadows of Amn. Enjoy.
|
Holy freaking fuck the last boss (in ToB) is difficult! I love it though. I realize the game is coming to an end so a few extra hours of trial and error is a treat.
|
Sorry if this has been asked, but when the new Baldurs gate Enhanced edition comes out, anyone know if we will be able to import saves to BG2 or will we have to wait for the Enhanced edition of number 2? I just got BG1, BG2 and Planescape then found out about the enhanced edition and cant decide if I wanna wait or start playing them now.

No idea Juggernaut. Maybe tweet the devs about this ?
Anyway. I want to play this game again. This time all the way from BG1 to ToB. But having played quite a lot already, I'd like to play it in multi, maybe with enhanced difficulty of some sort.
Any of you guys interested ? I guess due to timezones, being in EU is a must, french would be good but meh, whatever. I don't necessarly want to go hardcore on it, if you can pour a few hours per week it can be enough, and it'll be a while before we finish the whole thing. I can guide mostly through BG2, haven't played BG1 for a long loooong time and ToB always bored me before getting very far. But going almost blind can be fun too...

I'd be up for this for sure - Im not french though and my french absoloutely sucks.. So we would have to do it in english
Send me a PM and we can talk mods etc. on Skype ^^

Ok, so we're setting up our games right now. We're going for Baldur's gate trilogy - Weidu 1.14, BG2 fixpack v9, BGT tweaks v1.0 and widescreen mod so far, so very close to the vanilla experience. If anyone wants to join us, this is the time ! Download those and PM me or ELA to get our skype infos !

sounds cool. you should livestream intresting parts of it , like watchers keep ^^
|
Wow we're so so far from that ^^
So we started tonight, after some troubles getting the multiplayer to work we finally managed it. We are called TheLittleOnes, me being a gnome illusionist/thief and ELA a dwarf warrior/cleric. Just the 2 of us, we'll only take NPCs for their respective quests. So far pretty fun, I mostly watch ELA smashes everything with dual hammers while I swing my sword in the air. But we haven't done much yet, just clearing out some areas and NPCs chests. Tomorrow will get serious, with the carnaval and Nashkel. Can't wait ^^ Don't know about streaming but we'll update our progress and share the fun

with two characters for most of the game , on insane difficulty? you already got to abuse the system pretty hard to have a chance.

Hey guys, I am incredibly late to the boat but I've always wanted to try Baldur's Gate 2. I'm in college right now, and I can only play games on my fairly low end laptop. My question is where can I get a copy of BG2 nowadays, and are there any add-ons/expansions/mods that I should be downloading along with it? Thank you!

http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/baldurs_gate_2_complete - game + expansion for $9.99
http://www.gibberlings3.net/widescreen/ - widescreen mod
There are a number of other content mods on that same website, but I never really bothered with them.
