Basic concepts: strafe jumping - If you strafe and jump in a certain rythm (depending on your velocity at the time) you go faster rocket jumping - makes you jump higher and faster (at the loss of life), which is needed to get some place plasma jumping - same principle as rocket grenade jumping - same principle as rocket + Show Spoiler +

Here's the Final Fantasy 7 run from AGDQ 2012 done by puwexil - discs 2 & 3 closed out the event. It's quite long, but I've been watching the entire thing (both parts in chunks) over the last couple of days for nostalgia's sake. Part 2 can also be found on his youtube channel.

This is one of my favorite videos from past events. The piano is excellent! The guy I was rooting for to win the race didn't win it, but I guess that's what you get for having a gf and wasting time on her that you could otherwise be spending on speedrun practice.

Siglemic back on those 120 star attempts. Supposedly doing this all month. I guess he ran out of money. (He's also going to AGDQ 2013 now)

(He's also going to AGDQ 2013 now) I listened to Cosmo all night Tuesday, and watched Siglemic since he began at noon yesterday until I passed out. Sig's chat is out of control. I bought my first TwitchTV subscription for him.

It was just a short time after that when I "discovered" Half-Hour Half-Life the most amazing speedrun ever done in my opinion performed by Blake "Spider-Waffle" Piepho who soon grew to be my very first video-game Hero and still is. He prepared this run for 3 years and took another 3 to complete it. When I showed my friends the run and told them about the work he put into it the response was that he was a freak who is wasting his time. I didnt really care that much because I expected this before but what was getting to that I couldnt explain to them by any means that he was just a guy doing what he enjoys most. Just like someone who plays soccer or guitar for that matter. The run was done in segments to achieve an almost perfect time which I believe can actually only be beaten by a few seconds. Also if the segmented run doesnt impress you should know that he also "did" a single segmented run which took one hour. Since he has been using a script which, if I recall correctly, enabled him to keep his speed during level transitions, the run is not considered an official record anymore after SDA decided to change their rules about using any scripts or mods which is explained on this page: http://speeddemosarchive.com/RunsWithScripts.html . I totally agree with this choice but that doesnt change my opinion about the actual run itself which is still an unbelievable accomplishment, with or without script. If you never watched it I suggest downloading it at the above link because the version you find on youtube is of very poor quality as I recall.
