Also, I got a question: What is the new "stalls/minute" thing mean when you hit ctrl+alt+f now, which used to show you fps but now also shows fps + gpu temp and now shows this? collecting data on stalls as opposed to fps spikes which might be different. So that they can properly check whether the issue is their streaming data system or perhaps computer configs of the users.
It seems when I start clicking menu buttons on the front page, i start getting these stalls. I can get up to 14 stalls/min if I click like from arcade to new games to search to etc.
What exactly does this mean? What is a good stall level or a bad one?

Yeah just logged in and played a TvZ, he goes ling infestor and my fps drops to 5 when it would have been at least 20 before, thanks a lot Blizzard you fucking douchebags. Talking out of their asses about performance increases in the patch notes for 1.5.0 but my (and everyone else it looks like) performance has been worse after the patch. There is literally no reason to play T on a lower end computer imho.

So if these textures take less memory then why do they cause lag? Using the variable.txt and running "old low" totally fixed my lag. My game all of a sudden became unplayable until that 1 became a 0. Just curious as to why that is.

Again,it's not because textures, it's because non-polished Streaming system
Your old low settings worked properly only because they already loaded as data-cache. New textures must be loaded too.

So my sc2 is totally ruined with 1.5 from fps issues. Now with 1.5.2 I cant even change the variable.txt. If I wish to upgrade my computer, what do I need to change? My Video Card?
|
^ To play on low you dont really need a great video card, integrated graphics is fine for low. Get it? Graphics, it's all about the GPU, so if your graphic settings are low, you dont need a gpu, but the higher you set your graphics x resolution, the better a GPU you need, but a CPU will always improve Sc2 performance and if your fps is unplayable at low that just means your cpu is too low (could be ram, but i think everyone has at least 2 gb...).
you should be able to play sc2 on low with custom $200 PC easily though. Check out the "how to build a budget sc2 pc" guide in my profile, it's still very relevant (damn bulldozer was a total flop and intel is so cray crazy that lower/budget end stuff is still the same prices, unfortunately).

can't play this game anymore
|
I don't get it, why would blizzard do this? I mean, I could run the game on extreme without any problems, but now I barely run it on low. That doesn't make any sense.
|
This is fucking ridiculous. I can't even make any changes to variables.txt anymore and game resets to ultra settings. Swear to God, Blizzard are just trying to make the game less playable with every patch. First the shit UI, now this? People with not-so-good computers can't even play now.
|
Similar topic: I'd really love an ulta ultra mode for the game - with significantly more blood persistence. Also things like when an overlord goes boom over a unit / building it's muck actually lands on it. Maybe even creep becomes visible on the wheels of the hellions. It wouldn't add anything for me as a player but as a spectator might look a little prettier.

I wrote this in another topic, i will write it here aswell
"It is so easy to be able to fix variables.txt
First what u need is to have ur old variables.txt, copy it somewhere, patch the game, open sc2, it will overwrite ur variables.txt.
Now u go to new variables and u notice that there is a different between old and new file "GraphicsOptionOverallQualityVer7[8]=5".
Now u go to old variables, insert there GraphicsOptionOverallQualityVer7[8]=5 save file.
Paste ur old variables to documents, enjoy old settings
Edit:After testing it via FPS Test custom map, same fps like before patch"

Every person that wants to play a game on a competitive level puts the graphics on LOWEST. Why? Because lowest runs the smoothest.

Thanks for introducing a problem that didn't exist prepatch blizzard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am getting a 3 seconds lagg at the start of every game. My opponents can put workers on mineral line at 0:00, I can only at 0:03...

Before patch 1.5 I thought bnet 2.0 couldn't get any worse. I heard the bnet team was fired, and I had high hopes. Then 1.5 comes out, a patch that brings lagg and an unprofessional UI...

How can company so successful make such basic mistakes?
