Game 1 - Daybreak A 9-pool from nerchio put pressure on Scarlett, but the game stabilized and developed along normal lines with both players macroing. Scarlett went for the faster lair and spire, while Nerchio went for double upgrades, burrow and speed for roaches. Scarlett used her map-dominance to grab a third while denying the third of Nerchio, and though nerchio managed to kill of a few drones with roaches, Scarlett had established a dominant position with advantages in everything but upgrades. Mid-game turned into late-game without anymore aggression and Nerchio narrowed Scarletts lead. The upgrades proved decisive as Nerchio came out ahead once the forces clashed and after regouping and teching, Nerchio pushed across the map with a few BLs. Scarlett held off the push, a stalemate was reached and the map split. The final minute-long bizarro-world fight happened when Nerchio attacking across the map with BL, infestor, hydra & corrupter. The fight tipped back and forth, but finally it was the defending player, Scarlett, who managed to come out ahead with Nerchio retreating, being 30 supply down. The scales tipped once again as Scarlett engaged at 12 o'clock and, for unknown reasons, Nerchios Bl-army managed to decimate the BL-army of Scarlett up 40 supply. As Nerchio tried to press his advantage by attacking, Scarlett once again got the upper hand and a long period of small skirmishes around the map ensued, each player trying to establish new bases. Ultimately, and for reasons not divinable by mere mortals, Scarlett managed to eek out a victory when the final hero corrupter of Nerchio was sniped by a Queen. A fitting end to a game beyond words. Scarlett BL macro is a good skill to have, 1:0 | ||
