So I upgraded from Windows 7 to 8 and all my old games seem to be fucked now.
This game Lost Labyrinth is the game that is running very slowly.
I've tried all compatibility options, updated my direct x and my video card. All the latest update. Dosbox doesn't run this game. I really would like to play this game again. But cannot currently on win8.
Help?

I have this issue with Sudeki and Windows 7/8. Can someone help please?

Install Windows 7.
Sorry, on a serious note good luck. I fix a bunch of computers and I remember before launch they made it seem like Windows 8 was fully backwards compatible with 7 and it simply isn't. There is a bunch of major changed particularly with the BIOS switch from legacy to UEFI can be a bit annoying at times.
I'm interested to see if someone here has a resolution for your issue though.

Consider using a virtualized OS for the purpose of playing these. I use. VMWare with XP since games like Alpha Centauri wouldn't work for me on W7.

There was something about this console command regarding multimedia and stuff in Windows 8, I don't know any details:
bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes
Perhaps Google what that means and if it might be what's causing your problems. You could perhaps just try it, you can reverse it like this, I think:
bcdedit /set disabledynamictick no

This is a good idea but I'd just go with windows 98. There's quite a few older games that don't work properly with XP and I don't think there's many games if at all that don't work in 98, work in XP, and don't work in Win7(At least cannot think of any).

I agree about using virtualbox. Why either XP or 98 when you can have both? and dosbox. and ubuntu.
I haven't had any problem with any programs in windows 8 however. I just moved my 500gb steam folder over and they all worked fine. Did you try setting compatibility mode? Surprisingly, windows 7 compatibility mode is needed a lot. Did you do a clean install, or an upgrade? Did you switch from 32-bit os to 64-bit os?

So I had a go with it and it really is slow and not just this game but any game that is compiled with blitzbasic seems to be slow on win 8.
However with Lost Labyrinth you can start the game and then alt tab out to desktop and then go back to the game and it feels right. There are a few graphical issues in the menus then but it seems fine in game although I don't know the game so you will have to try your self.

I found that the best solution for this is to just dual boot Windows XP and Windows 7/8. I do it with XP and 8 and have no problems.
|
Why would anyone dual boot anymore? With windows 8, Hyper-V comes innate. Just create a Windows XP VM like everyone else does. You just need to go to windows features and enable Hyper-V. Your CPU does need to virtualization capabilities.
Ez Mode..like protoss..
