Do you think the standard starting conditions, as in a player starts with a main building, 4 workers (worker cost is 50 minerals) and 50 minerals, will remain the same in SC2? And stuff like supply depot, overlord, pylon @ 100 minerals and what not?

probably keep the 4 peons in start. Hopefully they stay with the 50 mineral in start too. Only time will tell us.

I mean, I think that SC2 is a whole new game, and if building costs, building times, etc., are all exactly the same, it doesn't give us much to learn. I don't want to start up SC2 after it arrives and be able to apply the same build orders I've been using for the last two years. I want something new to learn.

4 scvs to start is one of the hallmarks of sc and there is no real reason to change it.

The problem with that is that it may become impossible to clone more than say 6 workers. I know I can barely clone 4 =). Starting with less would just be retarded.

You should also think about wc3 here, it's pretty balanced now and they might have caught some ideas there so it may be possible that you start with: - 4 workers - enough minerals to build rax/pool/gate and pylon/overlord/supply depot That would speed up the game a lot (and they said that it's gonna be faster, 15-20 minute battles top) and allow for some more variety in the beginning (tech before rax, rushes etc.). Gotta wait for more info though.
