I dunno, i think the visions of Rocket is awesome but he is in the wrong team. I really love the Arma games for what they are, but Arma 3 with its current state in beta has still the same issues like before. The developers cant seem to fix it. The AI is really lacking still due to the heavy focus upon easy scripting. Weird gameplay like not beeing able to jump, you can only climb over which also looks really weird. There is no real fluid animations like modern games have today. Everything is so scripted in the Arma games. The only stuff that its good is the realism and scale of the game. They are 10 years behind in everything else.

There was so much fucking hype for the game, and now it looks like they're not really getting much interest anymore :/

AI, UI and other aspects of that engine are borderline broken or so hard to repair, that it destroys the strength of the developers, which lie in creativity and not in grinding stupid repairs. It's such a shame, i'd be pumped to play this if it wasn't such a messy game. Which was fine for DayZ mod for a while, but that's it then.

Basically he created this whole thread on reddit saying rocket was going nowhere with this project and how they're not focusing on fixing bugs and instead designing clothes and playing with aesthetics which should be one of the last things debs should be doing. Then the hive mind goes ape shit saying its in beta, destiny responds to everyone and eventually rages, resulting in a ban from the subreddit.

His strategy is usually to create drama and yell louder than the other guy. And Reddit: just a site for casuals to discuss things, please don't think any posts there are authoritative. Please don't look at them as a hub for rational thought (although they aren't exempt of it) and instead as just a popular topic site. Edit: grammar.

Aside from that, I would be interested to see how many people bought Arma II because they wanted to play Arma II or because they wanted to play DayZ, and furthermore of those people who bought it for DayZ, who bothered to play Arma II for any length of time. I figure that the numbers should be around 30% (Arma II) and 70% DayZ, and the second statistic to be about 5%. God I just feel that although some people say the zombie genre is 'dying out', that it is far stronger than ever before and people are DESPERATE for good games to come out with zombies. It seems that games who get it right like L4D and Resi 4 are adored by the public. It sucks that the last good film with zombies was 28 days later or possibly .Rec. I haven't played the last of us but I have plans to play it, but I really enjoyed TWD, had a certain amount of fun with dead island...and I just feel there is so much more to be done!!!! My desire for there to be a standalone dayz or at least something that has fast zombies + good atmosphere + realistic experience is almost as high as my desire for a new shenmue game (which anyone who has checked my blogs will know is a very intense desire).

Roger on that. I don't know if it still exists, but the funnest zombie game experience I have ever had was CS:Source with the Zombie mod script on. The one where the humans would have to make barricades with the furniture and then stun the zombies (who were hit-point buffed players as well, wielding only a knife) away as they tried to dismantle it. I've been looking for something similar to that with more polish (as it is just a mod script - no new models, etc.) since then but nothing ever came. Some of my best zombie game memories are from that and it is quite sad when you think about it as I have played most zombie-related games since. None of them were close to emulating that psychological dread and terror of the unknown but Day Z was close (because of player killers, not the zombies too).

As a community we all bitch and moan about how games are released before they are finished and then we pay money for expansion sets which are more finished products. So what if they take a bit more time- no one wants to play a slightly improved DayZ mod.

I still find it more then questionable that they're working on that graphics engine, it's causind more problems than it actually offers. This game, should it ever come out, might still have a chance though, as none of the other zombie games has been really successfull so far.

L4D, Dead Island or even Zombies in Call of Duty don't ring a bell? (not to mention all the indie games)

I refuse to believe you've ever tried dayz if those are the games you're comparing it to

I refuse to believe that this should be more fun than playing "clown" games (which is a stupid argument to begin with)-

Play DayZ (or watch some game play) you'll understand If you want difference i will tell you this. In Dead island, l4d, cod zombie => You shoot or you die (because you know... Zombie) In DayZ => If you shoot, you die :p => Because sound attracks them and they kill you. Stopped following this for a while. Do we have an estimated realse date ?

Which is why this game is becoming a source of frustration rather than excitement atm.
