Screw this, I'm going to turn off ironman and save scum, at least until I can at least figure out how to effectively do this stupid mission with nothing good equipped and survive with everyone You do it effectively by having at least 5 in squad and two heavies (at least one with shredder rocket). You do it effectively by playing well until that mission so you can have what I wrote here. You also have grenades with others. An assault with lightning reflexes also helps but you can do it without him. I done the mission on Ironman Classic without any losses.

Also Training Roulette is kind of neat, although I may be biased by all the sprinter assaults I've been getting.

The most important part in those missions (and any council mission), is to be patient. Leapfrog and don't advance more until you had killed every thinmen who dropped by. Only then continue. Since you also know where they are going to drop, you can prepare yourself before hand with overwatch traps. Just did the base attack mission. Lost 4 recruits, but it wasn't that hard. Sure i was scared as hell when i got 3 mechtoids, 1 sectoid commander, and some more stuff in the first wave, but i used the rookies as bait for shots in low cover or withouth cover to gain turns lol. Mimetic skin is so imbalanced ;P By the way i think you can stop the base attack, because i got the UFO, but i couldn't shoot it down ...5 days away for firestorm with EMP cannons...

Thin Men have high base accuracy and a Light Plasma Rifle for another 10% bonus. So yes they are very accurate. Move slow. Set up plenty of overwatch and most of them should die as they land.

Screw this, I'm going to turn off ironman and save scum, at least until I can at least figure out how to effectively do this stupid mission with nothing good equipped and survive with everyone You can kill 2-3 thin men (depending on the first one's spawn RNG) with a rocket launcher put your heavy at the edge of the broken wall right ahead of your spawnpoint, and you'll be able to hit the 2 thin men that start out next to each other by aiming the rocket as far to the left as you can. Be careful to not trigger vision on them or they'll spread out. This + careful spawning of the overwatch waves later allowed me to do the mission with only a squaddie heavy + 3 recruits (all my leveled guys were in healing T.T) without losing anybody (although some got down to 1 because of the poison could bs) Just took a couple tries.

-do flamethrowers count as explosives? -what gene mods are good and wich ones do I need to prioritize on what classes? -needle grenades, is it me or are they VERY situational? -save up medals or just use them as you get them? -can you stun multiple enemies in 1 mission? or does 1 'overwrite' the other? (I think I had this issue once but I wasn't entirely sure) cheers!

(I think I had this issue once but I wasn't entirely sure) cheers! 1. no idea 2. Neural Damping and Mimetic Skin are really awesome, must have mods. Especially the skin one is really, really strong. 3. If you want sure 3 dmg on a target but hope to use the cover he's using later on than needle grenade is your friend. So ye, they are situational. 4. Unless you play on easy or normal there is no point to not giving them away straight away. They give nice bonuses that will slightly improve your squad, so there really is no reason to not upgrade your troops. 5. You mean with the arc thrower? You can stun as many enemies as you have charges. If you give arc thrower to everyone on your squad you could stun up to 18 enemies per mission. (they have 3 charges, right?) Also, does the flying stealth squid trigger stealth as soon as you spot it or at the start of it's turn? Cause I have this peculiar situation in my C/I run where somehow 2 of them are visible for me but I didn't spot them yet and they didn't spot me either. So now I don't know if using run & gun will be worthwhile cause I don't know if they will stealth as soon as I pop in their field of vision making me waste my r&g and leaving my assault in a bad situation or will I be able to take down 1 before they do anything.

(I think I had this issue once but I wasn't entirely sure) cheers! 1) I believe it is. not entirely sure but it doesn't mention there guns break which is the same for normal explosive damage. 2) Mimetic Skin is amazing since it allows you to scout aggressively with little risk. On Ironman I also like the Second Heart to ensure your super good soldiers don't die to a lucky shot. Late game the one that counters MC is good but there is no need for it until you start encountering Sectoid Commanders. 3) Never used em 4) There is an achievement to have someone with 5 medals by the volunteer. If you want it there is a reason to save medals so that you can give them to a psychic character. Otherwise spend em right away. 5) Yes Also, does the flying stealth squid trigger stealth as soon as you spot it or at the start of it's turn? They stealth on discovery so you cant r&g in to kill them unless your stealthed yourself.
