Heres my personal favourite solo, 1st thing i every watched on shawn lane, and was shocked, its very raw, its just shredding, and hes very young, but i always go back to it! :::

Most of the guys I know who play that kind of thing swear by Les Pauls and the like, or something pretty heavy in terms of the weight and the wood. Really it's a setup thing as well, you'll want a pretty high action and thick gauge strings for the sustain for a start Got one of those myself, they're great!

Just restrung my gibson LPJ. Have really been favoring my tele the last few months that I forgot what an awesome guitar the LPJ is. Bit heavy though haha, after a couple hours of playing shoulder is killing me!

You should play my LP custom. Thing weighs like 10 pounds :/ But it sounds so good.

They go for around $500 new. I can't say much about the clean sound because I've yet to find a nice clean tone (Line 6 UX-1), but my ARZ 800's distortion through a Peavey ValveKing 212 and a Boss ML-2 is very thick sounding, and the sustain is also good with the EMG's. I sometimes feel like it's too thick.

If you want a big shiny music store with all the newest stuff Guitar Center on 14th street and Sam Ash on 34th street are the best, unfortunately. If you want to browse some cool used/vintage guitars and get tech/repair stuff done on your instrument I would go to 30th street guitars on 30th street between 7th and 8th avenues. I love that place, and I get all my guitars serviced there. So much better than the big box shops.

Similar to my ESP. Chugga chugga for days.

I was thinking I might bring home a guitar as they are much cheaper in the US. I want to buy used, can't afford vintage stuff.

It'll basically be a guitar circle jerk but it's my first virtuoso album and it will feature a few somewhat notable names in the modern metal / prog world. This is my debut track, hope you guys enjoy! https://soundcloud.com/chadhaynesguitar/exit-strategy If you want to keep up to date on what I'm doing, like my Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/chadhaynesguitar Many thanks!

1. Death - Crystal Mountain cover 2. Beyond Creation - Coexistence solo cover I learned most parts of the 2nd song but can't play it completely because I don't own a 7-string guitar :/ I love the solo however so I couldn't resist recording it I'm thinking about buying a 7-string but I don't want to spend too much money on something only to cover some songs, since my band has been playing and writing for 6-string exclusively. Anyways, here are the two songs:
