So, I wasnt sure if I should put this here or in blogs, and I was going to write a long-winded post about my history/passion for esports but essentially i know every1 is lazy and doesnt really give a shit so...
I am planning on going to South Korea for LoL Worlds, also hope to check out some SC2 while im there. Since my first esports love will always and forever be SC;BW, and to honor that I will go watch some SC2. Which...while i dont really play/follow it much anymore... I used to watch every single competitive match ever played.
Anyways, im 25, male, from So Cal, have always wanted to visit the Mecca of Esports... have decided I am going to Worlds this year for multiple reasons:
1.Its in Korea (and ive always wanted to go since cheering on sAviOr at 4am during BW...curse u Ma Jae Yoon for breaking my heart...i still love u tho)
2.Riot puts on the greatest esports show atm in my opinion.
3.I love Leage of Legends (tho i also love Dota2). I love LoL because Riot, is the only company who has taken esports seriously, and is working their asses off to make sure its fanbase loves them and their game...while putting on a kickass show, and putting out high quality content. Blizzard has ignored esports for decades, while OGN and Gom have supported them...meanwhile Riot in-housed it all and I LOVE that about Riot Games.
4.I finally have a career/money/house and can afford to travel to far off places and do things I otherwise would not be able to.
5. Korean girls are gorgeous. jk. (well not really but this isnt THAT big of a bonus that id be willing to drop 5 grande on a week long vacation)
Anyways, have never been out of the country, and I dont have anyone to go with, so was curious if any other TL'ers were making the trip to SK?
I know there isnt a date set or anything yet, but was just curious if there was even any interest among other TL LoL'ers.

I kind of want to go to Korea AND Japan. Airplane tickets are so expensive though...

I cant wait to go back, for when you go there: Be sure to check out the GOM studio during worlds. Might not be that much activity there at the time, but I'm sure they will have something. They always do. Since you are on TL I'm sure you can find your way to I Park Mall where the OGN studio is, other than that Id suggest seeing the palace and to schedule a visit to the border to get the tourism part out of the way (If you are feeling more adventurous check out Haesindang park and Jeju island, and the Beaches+temples in/near Busan).
I'm always open to meeting with TLers during worlds (randomly bumped into Atrioc after the Fnatic v Royal game)

i plan on going with EG when we qualify i will gladly meet up with any TLers there

Why don't you go watch some Sonic stuff if you love BW?

pretty much what 739 said.
I would have LOVED to have seen BW live in Korea during its heyday but now i think it would just make me sad and dislike Sc2 even more.

I will set up a meetup for Worlds once we have a date etc.

I really want to go since this time I have a paying job & ample time to prepare for the trip. Hopefully there will be a cool BW event near that time too.

You choose not to help the game you supposedly love and instead support the company that has no relevance to BW apart from the fact that they killed the game, all because you want to "honor" BW... ? My mind is blown.

I'm getting a scholarship to study in Korea this summer. Hopefully I can line it up with Worlds and have some free time/money to attend it.

lol League of legends didnt kill BW. Blizzard killed BW. And Blizzard is the one killing SC2, not Riot. IDK how i chose not to help BW, there was nothing I could do to prevent SC2 from being a shit game, and stop it from kicking BW out of the scene, that was 100% Blizzard's mission, and whether they succeeded or not had NOTHING to do with me lol.
So I guess we are in mutually confused, as your logic, doesnt seem to have a bit of logic in it from my perspective.
BW IS dead, whether there are small shitty versions of it now or not. When Flash, JaeDong, etc all moved to SC2, BW was dead. So I am not going to go watch 2nd-rate BW, even though I think it was a much better game than SC2 is.

MaestroSC spoke his opinion of what he thinks about BW, let's not be so hasty to judge. If you don't agree, just ignore and move on.
Let's keep BW/SC2 out of the thread since it doesn't pertain to Season 4 Worlds. You guys can reminiscence all you want about BW in its glory days in person while staying in Korea.
On Topic: I'm seriously considering attending as well but obviously need more information and details. But for anyone who is considering the trip: start saving now.

At least you are going to see Reach on stage because NaJin White Shield is so going to win Worlds.
I wish you the best for your trip and good luck to get tickets. There are some TL-LoL'ers in Korea. I guess you can organize a meet-up or let them organize one.
Keep in mind that Worlds is going to be a three week event most likely. You might want to plan accordingly to see the semis, too.

I might consider going to worlds again if I get involved in esports again or have a boat load of money saved up somehow.
|
I think I'm still stiff from flying to China in economy seats two years ago. Still would love to see the show though.
