Twitch Plays Pokemon is really a ton of fun for a ton of people, including me. But noooo, Destiny, desrow, and others (I don't recognize all the voices) are just trying to spam democracy to throw away Bird Jesus.
Ya, I know you guys are enjoying this, but c'mon- you do realize that you're taking the fun away from most everyone else, right? Not only are you just trying to throw away the pokemon, which will just get people annoyed, but now everyone has to spam "anarchy" to stop you guys from winning, and nobody is able to insert actual commands. Even the ardent democracy fighters don't have any interest in you guys just taking over the whole game.
To be honest, I'm not surprised Destiny is in on this, but desRow? I thought you were a community guy...
edit:
Oh shut up, don't act like you're not encouraging Destiny on to mess it up for the rest of us.

After seeing people complain because people democracy'd a ledge so they couldnt watch 48 hours of jumping off a ledge, walking into a wall and spamming start i really began to lose faith in humanity. I do not understand this craze at all.

Basically, people enjoy it not only because it's more of a challenge, but also because the numerous failures and struggles of anarchy are what let such an involved and compelling storyline develop within TPP gameplay. Democracy is argued to pretty much make TPP a really slow "Let's Play".

But Twitch Plays Pokemon IS a really slow let's play.

If you think one small group of Starcraft players is enough to sway the vote towards democracy, then I think you need to take a look at the numbers. You do realise how many people (and bots) are spamming votes, right?

The large majority of the regulars of TPP were during input commands, while basically all 5k of Destiny's watchers were hitting democracy. Ya, I'd say that's enough to swing the votes. And you were able to actually watch it happen...

So what happens when you vote democracy vs anarchy?
|
Typical destiny stuff 1°) Realises he's losing viewers 2°) Finds something popular - Option A : Causes a huge drama about it - Option B : Creates a huge mess by screwing with it and asking its viewers to do the same
Repeat for the past 2 years

Can someone at least explain why voting democracy is bad?

SnowFantasy: Anarchy and Democracy both are really slow "Let's Plays". However, Democracy would, in general, be similar to any other playthrough of Pokemon Red out there, the only difference being that it's way slower. So, pretty boring. Anarchy is not a typical playthrough. Both by accident and through the efforts of trolls, TPP has managed to release several valuable pokemon (including their starter), buy 99 Pokedolls and a fire stone in attempting to buy a water stone, attempt to "use" the S.S. Ticket, Lift Key, the Helix Fossil repeatedly in any and every situation, and fail at many more things constantly. But this is what creates the intricate storyline (summarized well in both of these links) of TPP, and whenever the crowd is somehow successful at accomplishing something, the satisfaction is made all the greater.

The real jerks are twitch. "Yeah we're totally accepting that NO OTHER STREAM has a stable chat for 2-3 weeks, because we want this channel, that can't even use more than one input per second, to be spammed to oblivion; for publicity of course." It's so sad these jerks have a monopoly on streaming.

Why do you get to decide what is boring?

It's that 1) They are a minority ruining it for the majority 2) They are enjoying messing up everyone else. It's only fun for them because we enjoy what we're doing, and they can mess with us. It's parallel to...I don't know, a kid breaking a toy of another kid, enjoying it just because the second kid can no longer play with it, and rationalizing it as "Well, we both wanted to have fun with it, so why couldn't I do this?"

But voting for democracy and anarchy are part of the game. Just let the game develop its way, it's a social experiment afterall.
