As I'm the OP, I am quite sure there was something about him being promoted in GM, and not a single word about schedule, sleeping deprivation and poo consistency.

Fact is that this is none of your business, but fyi we're in summer time in Italy, and school runs from september to june. Moreover you didn't read well the OP, as Reynor is currently in mYi gaming house, that's called holiday, thing you clearly don't grasp (and I suspect it's not the only thing). By the way, when I was 12 I was used to pull all nighters on Civ 1, and look what, 24 years later I've not developed depression, suicide tendency, nor childish flaming tendencies. Lol, I just use my parent as a reference to say that my sources about kids tendencies weren't some FOX shit.

I don't think it's anything to do with the computer, I think it's more to do with the kid themselves, often people who spend vast amounts of time on computers do so because they're socially inept and that causes the problems that you are talking about not the time they spend on a computer.
Anyway I will pass you a bigger shovel.

Fine then, thanks for your unnecessary opinion about someone you clearly don't know anything about. Next time I'll post a paper about this on arXiv and wait for your peer review.

Use a little more common sense in future. Can't tell if trolling..........
Yeah, well, that's part of the problem. You don't know what is right or wrong.
12 year old kid should be sleeping at night. Growth hormones and cortisol are released only at night and only in deep sleep. Kid is growing. Doesn't sleep at night, he'll grow to be about 5'5.
I get it, many gamers have irregular sleeping patterns, stay up all night, sleep in the day. I'm sorry to be that guy to break it to you, that your lifestyle is unhealthy. And it's even more so detrimental to a child in puberty. You don't have to believe me, ask your GP/family physician.
Being up at 330 playing a demanding video games is not good for a 12 year old. It's not a grey area, it's not up for discussion. And if for whatever reason, you lack the common sense to arrive at this conclusion for yourself... it's time to get off the computer and go amongst people, talk to some parents. There's a reason there's a bed time. Children that lack a steady sleeping schedule have a significantly increased risk of suffering from ADHD amongst other things.
You can pretend like this is me being a hardass all you like, but if you let your 12 year old kid be up at 3 am for whatever reason, you're a god awful parent and shame on you. edit: And if you've been entrusted with the care of said child and let it be up at that hour, then shame on you too.

I didn't know you were the father, congratulations! You must be so proud of your boy!

Playing League of Legends and Starcraft with your friends at silver/gold level is fine but a 12 y/o getting gm in one of the most hardest and most stressful multiplayer game? As much as it might look good for him but being so young and already being consumed by the game is definitely not a good thing.
|
To think that at his age I still used to get a scolding if my parents caught me reading a book after 10pm.
|
I played broodwar before this kid was even a concept, and he's probably better at RTS than I ever will be :s

Also you'd be surprised what youngsters are capable of. They have way more energy/resilience than people expect

first of all congratz! quite an achievement
about the sleeping enough or not enough...
maybe just go ask your family physician if its healthy for a 12 year old to stay up at night at 4AM playing video games
if your physician says its healthy, then well no need to talk about Reynors sleep habits then

I was asked at that age to get up at 4am each day for swimming practise and then have another training session later in the day (10pm at latest) would you call that unhealthy? The parents and the child make the shots who are we to question?

"we" might not have the right to question
thats why i said ask a certified medical physician for their professional opinion on health
