also this thing in SAO2 has been bugging me, when sinnon killed that robber when she was little...sure everyone would be in shock of what she had done, but her mother was looking at her like she was a monster, dont they realise that sinnon only did it out of terror and wanted to help save her mother, and she effectively saved everyone in that building even tho u would be shock afterwards wouldnt you like thank her for saving ur life, and i would rather expect her to make the newspapers and be praised something like "9 year old's quick thinking saves her mother from a robber" or something like that, instead they kinda act like she took like the gun shot the guy in the legs stompped on his face laughed and then blew his brains out.
Instead shes like totally shunned for it which idk seems super weird to me. (Even if it was everyone praised her, but she still had the reoccurring nightmares and all that anxiety that would also be okay make sense, but in SAO they kinda implied her mother like was like "O_O omg devil child get away from me and go live on your own now" and all the kids were like "murderer murderer" so doesnt that mean the newspapers (which how they probably found out) didnt print her as a hero?
lol: i like how when kirito sees sinnons butt hes like O_O i betta keep talking so she doesnt move and i can look at this butt crack some more rofl
It's fucking dumb and bad writing. SAO guy has no idea how to make good characters so he just slapped in some random shit so he could tick off the trap box.
He wanted to do guns but at the same time realized how absolutely flat all his characters were so tried to make up some tragic backstory a character needed to overcome so Kirito the god of all could help her do that. Instead we left with some stupid forced shit while Kirito wins a gun game without using guns...
I can only imagine that Japan is such a hippy country that the mere act of violence even in self defense is enough to make everyone hate you. Only explanation that makes any sense.

Wow Numy don't hate on japan. Go hate on the author freely though :D

It's not me hating on Japan, it's the author hating on his own country by portraying them so poorly.
I guess I'm just upset and sad about stuff like SAO. Steven Erikson took 8 years to get his books published in the UK and 4 in the US. Yet poorly written shit become cash cows all the time.

What the fuck happened with the last chapter of Kenichi? Was it cancelled and it had to be rushed, or was that the actual ending the author wanted?
I'm sure it got canceled because if author had any self respect to end it voluntarily he would done so 200 chapters earlier.

lol: i like how when kirito sees sinnons butt hes like O_O i betta keep talking so she doesnt move and i can look at this butt crack some more rofl hmm can't explain the mom but I take it her 'friends' saw her as a killer regardless of the reasoning. I mean, she did kill someone after all even if she saved a lot of people. Also, who knows how the story got out. The media might've twisted it or something else happened so we can't say how the newspapers wrote about it since it's speculation at this point. Also, did they really imply that? It seemed like her friends and such shunned her so it's possible she moved away to avoid all of that but also the mom? She was talking to her on the phone but that doesn't necessarily mean that the mom was ok with things either. "Kill The *****"
don't take it seriously, I'm sure the anime episodes also follow the same naming convention. well, I guess but they've been following through with it for the most part. + Show Spoiler +I mean, kill the scientist, killed him. Kill the three, killed them. I'm just mostly confused what the background of those two new members is so that they feel the need to kill them (newcomers). im only speculating XD on the mom thing because how horrified she looked at sinnon, and i think it would take more than a few boys calling her names for her to become this distraught over it Can't say much for the mom though it probably was her being surprised that her daughter kill the robber or something. I'll have to rewatch the episode to say otherwise though. Based on what we saw, looks like she was singled out and shunned by her classmates (and likely all students) due to what happened. A bit too much? sure but who knows just how deep things were.

So I finished SnK the other day. Have to say I really liked it. The atmosphere was stunning, rather interesting characters, awesome mystery, fighting wasn't boring. I researched a bit and found out that a second season is planned for 2015. I'm glad about that because I want to know how it proceeds but I'm not the kind of guy who would actually read the manga. I also want them to expand on Mikasa. She is so badass but they really turned her into a character that only does one thing: Speaking the "Eren" line... Kind of disappointing for a character with so much potential.
Picked up Aldnoah.zero now. Finished episode 7 now. It's kinda ok. Some girls are a bit annoying. They have like life-saving positions, yet they act like helpless creeps. Slaine is pretty cool. I hope they deliver on Inaho and provide a solid answer to why he is so awesome in the end... Right now it's rather irritating.

I only watched half of the anime but had read the manga up till about last September lol. Mikasa feel so tied to Eren at all times but guess she's that into his safety lol.
AZ is good fun too. I won't say much for your last part though. He's the calculating type, possibly the 'keep emotions hidden' part too.

I just got around to watching the Ping Pong anime. Strongly recommend it. Best sports anime since Cross Game in a totally different way. The OP, art and story are all good. A bit of pacing problem in the middle but not as severe as most animes tend to have. A solid 9/10, been over a year since I watched a this good anime.
A well adapted manga, surpassing the live action movie for those that have watched it.
Sad I watch so little anime (DotA is evil) that I was on the edge of missing the series until I did a random search on AniDB to test their new tag system.

Uhm is Cross Game great ? i never heard of anyone speakly lowly of the show.
How good is it compared to other sports shounen ? tbh i never hated a single sports shounen show

I reread the section from the LN on this and this is how the book explains it.
1. Sinon's mother is insane. When Shino was a baby(2years old), their family was going to her grandparents house. They were driving through a road in the mountain side when a truck driver on the opposite lane lost control of the steering and crossed the truck into their lane. Shino's car was hit through the guardrail, rolled down the side of the mountain, and hit a tree. Her father became unconscious but still alive with serious injury while her mom had a fractured left leg and shino was tightly seat belted so her injuries were minor It took 6 hours for anyone to notice the accident (they live in countryside) and during that time, her mom was forced there to look at her husband while he died of internal bleeding(wow, such torture) Her mom was never the same. It was described as "reverting her mental mentality to when she was a teenager and met her husband" as she suppressed any memory and gotten rid of any object that reminded her of her husband. And then she wanted to live like a country girl again. and she just wanted to live a peaceful life after that and she treated shino more like a little sister instead of a daughter.
2) fast forward to robbery, life was going pretty damn good. But then the man decides to push shino's mom to the ground like used goods. This pretty much destroyed her mental state and she got all tensed up and paralyzed from fear. So yada yada shino takes gun and shoots man like 5 times and there is an inordinate amount of text describing how the recoil of the gun affected Shino (dislocated her right shoulder, getting pushed back, so much pain). And then after the man died, shino looked at her mom and the man. The mom was paralyzed by fear and terror and the guy's empty eyes stared into her's.
3) so now the police came. She was interrogated and hospitalized for 3 days. There's a scene where they Were at the bank and the police tried to remove the gun from shino's hand but she couldn't let go cause her hands stiffened and she couldn't loosen them for a while(probably due to the experience just now). Anyways her mom was hospitalized for over a month.
4) so here is the the murderer part coming in. Due to voluntary restraint of the media, details were never reported. The robber was reported to the prosecutors but a trial was never held. Because it took place in a small town in the country side and that the details were leaked, they spread across the town really quickly and were blown up and overly exaggerated. In elementary school, people called her murderer. In middle school, everyone ignored her
5) just wanted to address this, Shino moved to Tokyo for highschool because her grandparent wanted her to go to a good college and marry into a good family while shino just wanted to start vocational school instead of high school and of course in Asian society, your elders always win. She wasnt bothered too much by people calling her a murderer because she was always a loner but she became scarred by the robbing event. Having people call her out or ignore her probably affected her in an indirect way that constantly reminded her of the robbing event. So now she has extreme PTSD when she sees a gun or touches a gun in real life.
So Yea, just answering your question.

Cross game was top rated anime on AniDB for a while. So it compares favourably since it is more of a drama than a sports show.

SAO world, the only place a little girl can save the lives of a bunch of people and be called a murderer by the community. Makes my brain explode.

(Even if it was everyone praised her, but she still had the reoccurring nightmares and all that anxiety that would also be okay make sense, but in SAO they kinda implied her mother like was like "O_O omg devil child get away from me and go live on your own now" and all the kids were like "murderer murderer" so doesnt that mean the newspapers (which how they probably found out) didnt print her as a hero?
lol: i like how when kirito sees sinnons butt hes like O_O i betta keep talking so she doesnt move and i can look at this butt crack some more rofl I reread the section from the LN on this and this is how the book explains it. In middle school, everyone ignored her 5) just wanted to address this, Shino moved to Tokyo for highschool because her grandparent wanted her to go to a good college and marry into a good family while shino just wanted to start vocational school instead of high school and of course in Asian society, your elders always win. So Yea, just answering your question. hmm interesting, wish the anime touched more on that. I don't recall them mentioning anything about her past at all. Thanks! Well, it's an ln adaption. Not much the studio can do really. well, I meant just a scene or two showing her past when she was talking to her mom on the phone. Shouldn't take more than a min to do it. Maybe some flashback to the doctor's office when he talks about what her mom went through back then. Do you mean the studio doesn't want to include it or?

tbh you'd have to be real creative with head tilts and camera angles and random scene stills to convey a convoluted detailed explanation of background plot in an anime without boring the audience
jokes aside i'm pretty sure it's not as easy as you think it is, else adaptations would probably be a lot better than source material. details are best left in a written medium imo

Ostracism for random reasons is the go-to personality shaping trauma with shitty LN writing anyway. Probably viewed as easy sympathy bait for otakus.

May be it's just something with the producer of SAO that they like to skip background details. Even an quick but boring flashback of Shino/Sinon family accident scene would have taken less time than the total amount of air-time her ass got. Or it's just ass > plot all day erry day.

Well i assume that 1) time is extremely limited. 2) There is an amount of quota that needs to be used for extraneous fanservice in hopes of selling more merchandise / source material 3) they gotta drag out the dramatic scenes so they sink in to the audience. and 4) light novels are quite long
When you do shit like this hoping you can capture a whole volume in like 5 episodes, there are a ton of things that are going to be lost whether intentional or not.

Shino's PTSD has very little to do with being excluded from society. She doesn't really care about that part.

I agree that time limit is probably the main factor. But I don't like the way they split the season into 2 cours for 2 arcs. Similar to SAO1, the 1st arc (SAO) has many interesting background stories yet it has the same number of episodes as the 2nd arc (ALO) which feel boring and draggy. Similarly I think GGO could have been better with more episodes count, assuming that they will go ahead with + Show Spoiler [next arc] +Mothers Rosario as the story for 2nd cour of SAO2. It's not that bad of an arc per se, but still likely to be the weakest arc of the whole novel, and it getting 12 eps is just T_T
Saying that, I guess producer do have some sort of timeline to follow and/or they want the story to fit into cour/season schedule for easier promotions. Unless you are showing back-to-back cour/continuous season, I also feel weird to have an arc stop half way at ep12 then continue in ep13 after 1-2 season break
