Hey all,
This is maybe a controversial one but from my perspective as a software engineer i have been finding it hard to keep up with team liquid, events and the scene in general. Mostly to do with Vods and streams i find it hard to know where to go and find what i need although most of it is on team liquid i just don't have the time to follow it as much as i want so. I've been working on a service i am just calling fringetv.io its not up yet but i want to post some screen shots of what it is to get feedback.
This is a web-app i made mostly to get more experience but i think it solves my problem almost needs more work but. Its an open source project where this service dynamically parses team liquid.net's DOM to find the info i need it then goes and fetches things from twitch.tv and youtube i will add more and more feeds aggregation and ideally integrate twitter to a focused element so you can see in realtime the twitter messages about events.
I would like to hear some feed back if this is something people might be interested in or hate or not. Or hear what people want. All the content is hosted else where this web app just aggregates things there is no database no nothing its just purely linking and making it easier to find things but i am not steeling data in my opinion its parsing and linking back.
BTW the code will always been open source and if i host this web app hopefully middle of august for the release it will be free no login etc.

Nice. In the past I've used http://clash.gg but I'm not sure if they solve your problem

While the idea is nice, we unfortunately do not allow scraping of our sites resources.

I would like to be pointed to some kind of legal document on this if possible. I feel this is very much anti-competitive and against the spirit of the community. This is a free service linking to your content not mine. It makes finding things so much easier. I am not sure if you know but teamliquid isn't exactly a noob friendly resource to find streams. Its almost a full time job these days to find content and this is hurting epsorts.

Damn, I'd love a central hub like the OP laid out, TL is good but I do miss the occasional event and stream

It's covered in our terms of use at http://www.teamliquid.net/tou/
If you think it's hard to find content on TL then please suggest improvements. Taking our resources without consent and making your own site is not cool.

This is so sad. If it was possible to do the TL scraping entirely on the client side is the only way to go now.
I am _not_ taking _any_ of your content and hosting it on my side which is what you have missed. But meh i dont think you guys understand. The software is entirely open source also on github.
Really surprised how against community development TL have been.
NOTE: They have also blacklisted my server ip so now i cannot scape on the server.

[ ... ] Sure you do, for example you display upcoming events and their descriptions taken directly from this site on your own page.
Clearly you take and host TL content on your own page, or am I missing something here?

Ah *sigh* so a free open source project trying to help people find content.
https://github.com/redbrain/yogurt
I mean point anyone to my site they will find esports content. Point them to TL, hmm hardcore community site. Point them to sc2casts some random youtube casters.
Btw this tiny bit of code is what is offending you seems so insignificant. https://github.com/redbrain/yogurt/blob/master/Yogurt/Feed_TeamLiquid.py
BTW your html is beyond pathetic. Your website is the worst structured thing ever.
If you want to argue content look at:
http://fringetv.org/api/live
The only _content_ is the title the rest is links to the streams, brackets and teamliquid. I mean seriously. The only one that might be considered rehosting content is my upcoming feed but i dont care about that so much so i will remove that.
I make no money. I link back to respective content _in_ all cases and make it clear. I give up. Really really surprised at TL for this i am not coming back here and will remove the feed. Good bye.
IMPORTANT:
This stance of Teamliquid means that they will always be the _only_ site with starcraft 2 event information. Its the only database of upcoming events. So they can try and keep a lock in approach to the sport we love.
Therefore the _only_ place to find the latest tournaments or whats happening is Teamliquid. This is bad for everyone including Teamliquid.
SOLUTION:
At the very least they could re-use my code or i would code it for them but a restful service for the starcraft 2 data. So everyone can find what they want and services could be built. They could even charge for this service and i would build it for them and this would be ideal.

You basically want the TL Event Database to be open source so you can tap into it, while TL still have to provide the means for data entry and the users to do so.
Exactly what are you offering?

This could have been a good tool and yes it must be irritating to have done work and then have access cut but why not ask TL staff before you got this far?

I've been looking for something like this for ages. I hope this can be put to some use still. Its a really nice idea
