tl;dr it's fun to scream at Killerdog "OMFG this siege worm is gonna rekk my shit", not fun to realize that they are 100% benign. What the fuck?

Loaded it up on hardest difficulty and absolutely shitstomped the strongest AI in the game before I got bored and stopped playing. It's incredibly boring, nothing ever happens and the AI just waits for you to kill it. The micromanagement is tedious and you spend about 25% of the game just managing workers and trade routes with very little thought involved. The quests would be fun if they were anything more than you suddely getting to decide whether you want +1health or +1gold in each one of your cities (damn, what a hard choice?!?). The most fun part of the game is the early exploration because you actually have to make intelligent decisions about just how many units you need and how to position them to kill barbs effectively. tl;dr it's fun to scream at Killerdog "OMFG this siege worm is gonna rekk my shit", not fun to realize that they are 100% benign. What the fuck? But thats Civ in a nutshell, boring as fuck past the first ~100 turns lol, maybe 200 if you get a good start + war going.

What the fuck? Yeah general view seems to be that AI is not very aggressive, there's a number of UI tweaks that could be made (e.g. sorting trade routes by most Energy/Science/etc., Strategic View, colourblind issues, etc.) and content is a bit limited. I suppose that's somewhat par for Civ though? Like Civ V base game was very plain but the expansion packs really made it much better.

Beyond Earth, but I honestly never got into Alpha Centurai *I couldn't get past the UI, despite teh music and feel being A+), So I'm probably not the best judge. But yeah, it'll probably go the way of Civ 5, average early, nice in the end.
