Its really interesting imo. Apparently chain lightning sound was based on the sound of fireworks and a tapemeasure. feral spirit has a toolbox being dragged accross concrete and a blowtorch. Earthquake is a bell hitting the ground, and was planned to provide players with an audio queue about what's happening. Knowing these things you can kind of hear them.. They're also talking about how in the design they're looking for the hero at their prime, e.g. thrall at the cusp of his power, right after wc3 in the timeline. Also mentioned that they go through a process to write the voice actors lines, and in establising the personality of characters that lack defined personalities in lore (brightwing, murky, etc). stuff that goes into writing lines: Gameplay reminders ~error messages (out of mana) ~caution suggestions (low hp!) Interaction ~promotes interaction (reacting to other heroes) ~responses to player actions (thanks for using fountain, etc) ~references lore (arthas\uther) The nexus is obviously slightly humorous since diablo vs raynor, since it makes no sense. which means lines are slanted towards providing a much lighter atmosphere. Music: combined styles from multiple universes, mix of innovation and nostalgia. The lead music guy is walking us through how he came up with the opening screen theme. it started with a chord progression, which then got arranged, it started slow, and required a little action, so he added a four note violin theme to go with the main melody. not musically adept here, but the process is really fucking cool, he does one part at the time adding melody and support, etc, blending it together with software. the guy is really, really awesome and talented, i'm really impressed Q\a session: Apparently blowtorch soundeffect resulted in someone being burned Brightwing sounds are the result of someone's inside joke with their wife Are we gonna get sound effects\different lines with skins? yes, for master skins Each character has about 300 lines. frostwolf resilience (hit with 5 spells regen a bunch of health) was a way for a meele assassin to deal with incidental damage Jaina: originally they wanted to be able summon a water elemental as a basic ability, but they couldn't balance the duration vs cooldown. Jaina's design is partially inspired by the Wow frost mage, specifically cone of cold. her trait (the one that increases damage and slow) was a natural extension, the spell selection was partially inspired by hearthstone. the selection and design was so tight that there were no major changes after design other than numbertweaking There's apparently a community panel i'm missing regarding the pro scene, heyoka is watching it Lost vikings: were very challenging because it required updating a 20 year old ip, that have really limited definition due to the limitations of technology at the time. They showerd a screenshot of the game and now i feel like playing lost vikings 2. the entire design of the hero revolved around having all three vikings, this was a challenge because that was the original conception for chens ultimate (elemental split), but it was abandoned because it was too clunky for users. originally each viking had a skillshot, which made controlling them a nightmare, so they used a concept called "movers and shooters", aka units that are dull on their own but interesting together. olaf is slow and tough but has a charge attack, the small guy has a lot of automatic escapes, and the sword guy has an aeo rightclick. but with no active abilities people felt like they needed more stuff, so they put the abilities in the talents and made sure they were all "affect all vikings" and had shared cooldowns Battleground philosophy: "its best to think to them as raids, they all have shared elements, bosses, don't stand in the fire", there are a lot of stable core elements, like mercs, forts, the core proper, so that players always have an idea of how the game plays. Sky temple: general rundown: temples shoot lasers, defended by neutrals. They're going to talk about skytemple and where they're going. Talking about the ancient egyprian vibe, it started with concept art, the aqueduct system and hot air baloons are all props they really liked. concept art looks really cool. "Snakes and scarabs" was a key concept. then they started 3-d modeling. they're taking a "scuptural approach", they make a highres 3-d computer model and then they downscale it. They start with big blocky shapes and sculpt down. With skytemple they redid all the models to match the theme, concept art is very very cool, all the asthetics were brought together to make it work astherically TOMB OF THE SPIDER QUEEN All interior, movie lighting, lots of spiders. feels like a vast undercity. Lots of props. Exclusive look at the map, seems like two lanes, map perspective isn't great, couldn't really glean any details, but it looks awesome WHATS NEXT: Diablo map, high heavens vs burning hells, three lanes, half hell half heaven. concept art is pretty impressive, looks like minion pulling a seige weapon? giant guy with mace again, hero or minoon? Guy with giant cleaver and crusader i think, idk, not a diablo guy. Q\a: No one seems to want to ask questions Rogue abilities? High chance | ||

C9: arthas, tychus, uther, zagara, CHEN Eg: tyreal, faldstad, stitches, tassadar, rehgar Chen is a surprising pick C9 kill 2 eg heroes, but skulls are even, and eg got mercs, arthas picked off Eg loses faldstad in teamfight, c9 slight level advantage EG being destroyed, they lost all the fights | ||
