I am terrible at Starcraft 2. I am even worse at every other game. I have no hand-eye coordination and embarrassingly slow reaction times.
That said, I have clearly discovered something. When I took my placement match last season very late, I placed in Silver for the first time. Now, after 200+ games in Silver, I placed in Bronze after WINNING my placement match.
I might mention that I finished the season as rank 2 in my Silver league. So, if you care about your league placement, wait a week or three before taking your placement match.

If you loose or win you placement match has nothing to do with you Placement. At the start of a season its kind of normal to get downranked and then you have motivation to get promoted again, so dont worry.

Yeah, since you can't get demoted mid-season anymore, it's almost expected that you will be placed in a lower league than you finished the last season in. Most of the time, you will be promoted back to your previous league within a single-digit number of games (assuming you are still at the skill level for that league. Or, potentially, even if you are not. I got into Diamond at the end of the season before last, placed into Platinum, got back into Diamond after a SINGLE game, then promptly got clobbered in Diamond for about 80% of the season.)

I wish we would see our MMR already, it would make posts like these disappear and clear up th ewhole ladder process. meaningless divisions would be gone and you could finally see progression

figuring out your MMR becomes pretty easy when you start understanding how it's calculated though.

Ok, to clarify: I want one single list of all players with their MMR. From place one to last. Just like aligulac but with all players, not just pros

I lost my placement match, and then got promoted, so i don't really think the placement match means much

If you made it to silver rank 2 before, you can hit silver again. Just keep playing its possible the lower mmr player pool was smaller when you played your placement. As a result, your mmr as a percentile of all players fell within the bronze percentile, but as more people play and place and as your mmr goes up from playing more games and winning you will get back to silver.

I never got why every new player thinks that the placement match is some kind of 'special' match where if you win you have a high chance of being promoted and if you lose you might get demoted. That makes absolutely zero sense to me. You just get placed in the league your MMR belongs in, and a single match matters very little.
Silver league isn't competitive, so being rank 2 in your division probably doesn't mean anything more than having finished your bonus pool. Being demoted at the beginning of a season is, instead, a plain sign that you had a below average MMR in your league the season before.

Let alone the MMR shifting around constantly.

So, a day or 2, I suppose?

I hate the SC2 ladder system with a passion. Obfuscated piece of trash.

Ended in Top 8 of my Platinum division (8th place). Still, I was demoted gold this season. But I was expecting that, as the SC2Gears MMR rating tool was already pointing me as a mid gold (after he correctly advised me during my climb to platinum). This just to say how much being high on your league actually means nothing.. probably my platinum division was just full of bad players, or most of them just did not used up all their points pool.
It's just that demotions now can come as surprises even more than before without the MMR tool, since there are no demotions mid seasons anymore, and you are still mostly paired against people from your current league, even if your MMR is much lower (in this case, however, they are still fair matches against opponents around your current MMR, just not from lowers leagues mostly - blame blizzards trying to instill a false sense of superiority into players.. at least in the past you could understand your bad MMR by your opponents' leagues!).
To sum it up: if you got demoted like me, it's not because of the placement match,or SC2 being evil.. we just deserved it with our latests games. Let's just work it out to climb again! We made it once, we can make it twice!

Yeah, guys.. MMR doesn't lie.
Blizz doesn't have some secret conspiracy plan to demote you, your MMR speaks for itself.
Shit, they can't even hire people to take care of anti hack let alone fix MMR haha.
Keep on truckin.

If you stop playing, your MMR goes down. Placement matches don't make that much of a difference as far as I know. In order to get out of silver, all you need is a reasonable build per matchup. You can probably 4 gate your way to gold or platinum without much of a problem, but it would be even more interesting if you learned good matchup-oriented all-ins. Or you can go for a macro build and just try to hit certain benchmarks and steamroll the other player, although all-ins are an easier starting point imo.

well bro I have a tip for you... It sounds stupid but it work.
Before you get to play your ladder games, go to play offline and play a game with no enemy not even a AI easy computer, and practice your 2 3 or even your one build, and focus on two things.
making workers and dont get supply blocked, while making your army ofc.
It sounds retarded but it works really really well... coz it makes you a better player unconsciously... so you hit your timings and dont get supply blocked when playing against a real enemys, trust me bro it work as ai said unconsciously your not even gotta notice... well I gues you will once you start improving GL.
PS: english is not my 1st language so wathever if a make grammar or spelling mistakes k?
