I don't really think there's a good reason for the hate towards ep. I-III, it just seems to be some kind of hatetrain originating in some elitist nerds a decade ago or so.
People who saw the originals first tend to prefer the originals. I saw the prequels first and I prefer them, although I love all six movies, and I'd buy Episode VII even if it was JJ Abrams' shit in a DVD case. It's all just a matter of preference.
Of course there are also objective reasons why the prequels were worse

There are objective reasons why the first 3 movies are horrible and massively overrated, merely a confluence of good timing and tapping an untapped market.
That doesn't stop me from liking them. I actually like all 6 movies and will probably like the 7th.
Looks like the new teaser stirred this thread a little bit. I got mostly positive vibe from it though, and now I think there is very little chance episode 7 is gonna be worse than 1-3 (though it's a silly thing to say after 60 seconds of random glimpses ).
Too bad we'll see Tattooine again, isn't that supposed to be some backwater planet on the edge of the galaxy? For me it's the most overhyped place in the SW universe.
I'm not gonna be original by saying this, but the only thing I didn't really like about the teaser is the lightsabre. The idea was good (protecting your hands) but without any explanation how it works and why it is built the way it is, it has a chance to be really stupid part of the movie. And if it's there just because it looks cool someone please shoot Abrams now, before it's too late.
Can I offer nerd science? The lightsabre has a power up period when you turn it on (the blade slides out, isn't instant), but at some point the sabre has to stabilize the length and maintain the energy level. The guard does kind of look like exhaust, so maybe it's a way of overclocking the lightsabre to add defense as well as offense. Seems legit?

I would be willing to buy that it is an old lightsaber from an era where they were much crappier, or a home made one that didn't work until he put the exhaust in.

My suggestion was more of an intentional modern iteration, but archaic technology could work as well. It makes sense given that Sith succession is the killing of the master by the pupil, and they do seem to be painting this one as a true Sith master, maybe even more powerful (in sheer force) than Palpatine. Maybe the weapon is inheritance passed down through the centuries as well.
Has anybody seen this "Rebels" cartoon stuff? Is it decend or at least watchable for someone over 5 years?
As weird as it sounds i kinda "liked" The Clone Wars cartoon, i mean not that it was good, most episodes were crap but there were some storyarcs that were ok on some level.

Rebels is a spiritual successor to the Clone Wars. It's made by the same people. It's good.
I showed that to my roommate and neither of us could quit laughing. The only part I didn't get though, was the rocks with the droid. Someone esplain pls?
In one of the remastered episode IV george lucas decided to stick a rock in front of R2-D2 sometime around the time ben kenobi gets introduced. For absolutely no reason.

Are you sure about that? To me it looks like its made by a completely different team of people and their target audience seems like is age 9 or below.Maybe its just me, but I couldnt watch more than 3 episodes so I quit. Clone Wars in my opinion was inherently better than Rebels.
