About
The Great British Invitational Cup is a UK StarCraft II mini-tournament that will be held on Sunday, April 12th, starting 5PM BST. The tournament is organised, hosted and cast by Darquess, and is his first StarCraft II event. The competition's £20 winner-takes-all prize pool is funded by DarquessGames directly. The event is online, and every match will be casted on DarquessGames' Twitch stream.
There are a total of four players participating in the tournament, and as such the tournament starts in the round of four, or semi-finals. The semi-finals are best of fives, and will be played one after the other, casted live on the DarquessGames Twitch channel. The Grand Final will be played immediately afterwards, again cast directly on the DarquessGames Twitch channel.
The goal of the tournament is to help reinvigorate the British StarCraft II scene, as well as providing increased recognition to both established and up-and-coming UK players.
VODs will be posted on YouTube after the event.

Thank you to everyone who helped support this tournament. I had a fantastic time organising and casting it, and I hope you guys had great fun watching too. Really sorry about the whole technical issues after the first series, simply unavoidable given our studio's location (it's in an old building with thick walls, quite far from the router) and I'm still not convinced with the wireless PCIe card I'm using. Regardless, viewership remained fairly strong for a first time tournament that was only announced the day before it happened, didn't have super-big-name Korean or foreign pros, no big casters and was played concurrently to the Fragbite Masters and Gfinity Qualifiers. If only we didn't have the brief drop - it'd have been interesting to see how viewership kept up, considering we were up at 60+ viewers for the JonnyREcco vs MythiC series. I suppose the ZvT matchup was maybe more exciting than the ZvZs that followed as well. I know for me, I've learnt a lot from this, and really hope to be back casting again soon. (Know an event than needs a caster? PM me :D). Also, congrats to our champion + Show Spoiler +

:D! Hope you enjoy the £20 prize mate!
For those that missed the event, or those who want to relive the magic, I'm posting VODs on my YouTube channel soon. It's a bit of a hassle because I'm going to have to edit them all together, as due to internet issues it's kinda split into three different VODs on Twitch, which split half-way through a series, or in one case an actual map. Anyway, hopefully I'll have the VODs up by Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on how easy they are to render and how fast my upload speeds are.
Well, this took slightly longer than expected because of YouTube breaking my upload of the Grand Finals half-way through, but the VODs are now live on my YouTube channel.
Series 1: JonnyREcco vs MythiC
Series 2: Revolution vs Mix
Series 3: Grand Finals
Just a note that the Grand Final VOD has just been uploaded so it's a big low-quality right now, should get up to 720p though. Also, remember audio levels will be a bit wack in the first series until chat told me and I corrected it.
Fwiw in future I think you should separate the vods into the different maps. It's a lot more palatable to sit down for a quick 20 minute game than it is to load up a 1 hour 14 minute one.
Damnit, wish I'd seen this and cheered along my compatriot Mix. We definitely need more of this kind of tournament though for sure, I'd love to help out in any way as the UK scene is way too fragmented, especially us across the Irish Sea
Yeah we should definitely have more tournaments like this. I'm looking into the possibility of recruiting some sponsors to allow bigger future events to happen, though nothing much will likely happen until August, as I'm away all July and have exams all May. There might be the possibility of some small open tournaments in June, though there likely wouldn't be much in terms of prizes it would be a chance to prove that both the playerbase and the viewership was there. Ideally I'd eventually like to get some sponsors so we can put on a mini-WCS format British Championship Series league tournament with a good enough prize pool to a) appeal to some of the big names of UK SC2 and also b) bigger prize-pools generally mean bigger audiences and more prestige. Nothing solid and certain for now, very much fluid at the moment but its time we got the UK scene going good and properly again.
