first i've got black lines on the right side of the screen (which apparently occurred from overheating) secondly (even after trying numerous firmwares) the sound seems to have gone kaput. i don't mind the black lines but i need sound. still trying to fix it but worse comes to worse... i heard the note 5 will be coming out soon?

I still don't get the point of going above 1080p for screen resolution. Except draining the battery faster, what's the upside ? I don't think the difference is really visible to the naked eye (or barely), and there's just no content for it anywhere. I mean I see the point in having 1080p screen as all your videos, movies and stuff are probably fullHD, but quadHD ...? I don't mean to criticize your choice man (sorry if I come off sounding like that), I'm genuinely wondering what the upside of going for a quadHD screen is. Regarding the Moto X Style, with those specs and at only 400 bucks, it seems like a great deal !

Sadly people are all about the rage of these 2, 3 or 4k screens as the only thing that matters, so companies are kinda screw if they dont choose to go big with specs... Even though, for example, the old Moto X 2013 (Dual core) works just as fine and looks just as good with 720p screen Edit: VR ? Why ? :o

When comparing 1080p to QHD, you're right, in day to day usage 1080p is generally enough. But if you were to scrutanise your screen, a QHD is definitely smoother than 1080p (duh), and some people like that. Fortunately there are still flagship phones that are being released that stick to 1080p for those of you that prefer the battery life/cheaper price of these phones.

The OnePlus 2 looks pretty awesome. Top specs, 3300mah battery, 1080p screen, $340. Only drawbacks for me: 5,5", custom Android OS. And I guess that you can't just buy it but have to register for an invite ...

Mine is still going strong and working fine (except for the ON/OFF button who's acting up from time to time), but if a good replacement comes around I could be tempted. And yeah, having "pure" Android is just much better than a modified version. Only modified version that was good IMHO was HTC's, but I haven't had an HTC phone in a while, so I can't say if it's still as good now.

I've heard rumors on anything between the 808 to 820 for the processor. most sources still point to the 808, although 820 has some credence with the random benchmark that popped up over the past week. other stuff includes 1080p 5.1-5.2" screen, LG G4 camera or a 3d camera, android m, etc huawei is also rumored to make a (larger) nexus but nothing's really confirmed at this point

I got a Samsung Galaxy S6 for work and I literally never use it over my iPhone 4 that my dad gave to me second-hand in high school even though it has much better specs. The reason I don't like it is because 1) I'm unfamiliar with the android UI and 2) it's packed with all sorts of bloatware that actually can't be uninstalled, only disabled. What on earth gives? I thought this was supposed to be a flagship Android phone too. I feel like the user experience is so lacking that if I had to buy a new phone today, I'd go with the iPhone 6 even though on paper it has shittier specs all across the board. tl;dr stop me from becoming an apple fanboy or confirm to me that I'm not crazy and that the iPhone is actually superior. A lot of "die-hard" android fans really hate Samsung for the reasons you stated. I don't personally care about them, but I do prefer motorola. It is simple, mostly stock android and the things that they add to the software really have an impact in how you use it, giving you more utility instead of just some weird things you'll never use. But that's my personal opinion. Maybe you should check them out. Stock android and the Google now launcher are more clean than touchwiz (samsung UI).

The presence of all those things made previous Notes worth buying despite other flaws like Touchwiz and Samsung's extremely slow software updates. If all those things are true then the phone is no longer worth the super high price. I'm much more interested in the Moto X Style now, as even though many of the specs are similar/weaker than the Note 5, the price is much lower and the software is much closer to stock. Oh well, just a couple more days to wait until the announcement.

Now to look at alternatives. Moto X or LG G4 pro or the new Nexus 6 I guess.
