The Last Kingdom TV Series Trailer Release Date: October 10, 2015 Network: BBC
"The Last Kingdom is an adaptation of Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Stories. The books follow Uhtred of Bebbanburg from a boy taken from his birthright and raised by Vikings, later fighting for King Alfred the Great and his son Edward. Shield walls, blood, revenge and the forging of many Kingdoms into one nation, a dream of Alfred's called England."
Anyone watching this? Looks pretty solid on the trailer. Viking Fans, GoT fans might like this.
Seen the Ep1. I like it but not as much as Vikings, the characters are rather weak (for now) and as someone posted above the fact that they speak modern english bothers me. For the shots(cinematography? correct me if im wrong) especially in battle I think its better than Vikings. But as for the characters I'd go for Vikings. Costume wise I find it very weird for the saxons and the typical "idea" of Vikings in hollywood, but I find it closer to the real one in terms of color,
Also, is dark brown/ black hair really common for Anglo-Saxons in the 9th century?

First episode is only an introduction to the story. The real story starts in ep2.
This series is fucking amazing. Great balance of humor, seriousness, drama, sex, and violence. Not overly gory/nude like spartacus, not slow and drama filled like GoT, and not completely full of shit like some other shows out there
Cool. I haven't watched any of this yet but it's great to finally see some pre-Tudor English history drama. Is Alfred the Great in this or is it focused on some other time?

So far so good.
Just don't really understand why the vikings speak such a perfect english.
If you are going to ask that question, also ask why are britons speaking such perfect English.
If britons are supposed to speak a different language than saxons then yes. My question was about why everyone speaks the same language with no accent at all.

English from that times was basically a different language, yes.
It was just so frustrating to watch him find that pagan princess out of nowhere, come home and then basically disown his wife and son. It might be just me, but that seems so out of character compared to how he's been for the rest of the show. Reminds me of vikings all over again where Ragnar chooses Aslaug over Lagartha. Hopefully the next couple of episodes make up for it.
I don't agree. He has done so because of anger. He has been shown from the start to be very proud and headstrong. He bows his head to no one. At no point he changes his behaviour, and he gets humiliated and used repeatedly. So at that point he is taking revenge on people that to him represent the Church he has come to hate so much.
