Awesome, thanks!

I'd recommend Super Metroid Race, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Blindfolded) and Two Worlds. (Dawn of Sorrow mostly for the last boss.)
Pokemon race if you're somewhat into Pokemon.

I recommend the Jedi Academy speed run too. That was a lot of fun.

The games are not the same so they have to do extra things like that wall hugging/doing inputs during load screens/etc to make it work completely, but thats still very awesome. It's an impressive technical feat, but honestly, it doesn't really make for good viewing. Having four screens to track makes it really overwhelming.
IMO it's one of those TAS's that are better enjoyed when you read up on all the tricks they use to make it work (eg. inputting left + right simultaneously on the controller results in different behavior in each game), and possibly watch at half speed.

Momodora (1-handed Insane) Star Wars Jedi Knight Academy SMW Low% (no power ups)
And for the entertainment ones:
Deus Ex TGM block Barbie Game Girl

Not a single word about trauma center second opinion? Despite it being like what night time there the run was a great watch especially for scrub like me that had no chance to play the game. commentary on point, very skilled runner, cool people on the couch, not to mention surgeon outfit :D - worth a watch totally. need to watch some more vod as work took my time out and I wasnt able to play the stream there..

Trauma Center was really cool to watch. Would love to see this star they were talking about.

I'd like to remind everyone that ESA, another big speedrun marathon is coming up in two weeks. Here's the schedule : http://www.esamarathon.com/schedule
Plenty more high quality speedruns to come this summer.

Ratchet & Clank blew my mind last GDQ, yet I've not seen it in any "must watch" list. How was it this time ?

Never seen ESA before, but I see Buck Bumble, Pokemon Snap, LoZ: OoT, and SM64 on the schedule! Anything N64 is great in my book
Can you please make a new thread for ESA- similar to the AGDQ and SGDQ ones- to add hype to it and keep track of everything?

Really enjoyed the Pokémon race.
Anyone knows what was the final figure of the donations? Was the million reached? (Yesterday stopped watching just short of 900k) $1,297,669.44 according to https://gamesdonequick.com/tracker/18 That's awesome! Especially since SGDQs are considered to be less popular than AGDQs. Maybe it also is because MSF is global, so there might be more of an incentive to donate for europeans than for the PCF? Prevent Cancer Foundation only acts in the USA and also is more about talking not researching. So maybe that might be a reason

Don't they change cities within the US every GDQ? There are enough cheaper/mid-tier cities in the US I'm surprised it's a problem...unless I'm mistaken and they keep it in the same city in which case maybe they should change it up. IDK.
(edit: I'm not suggesting they break any hotel contract they are in, that's just silly, but rather change the venue up if it makes financial sense and when GDQ is out of their contract.)
|
How expensive is the typical GDQ venue to rent out for the week?
|
AGDQ's venue was about $40,000
They stopped doing bonus streams a few years ago actually. They were quite disorganized schedule-wise (which was the whole point you might say ...) and in the end seemed to be too much effort to maintain for not enough gain by the organisers, so they removed it.

I feel bad saying it, but I will probaby wait for a highlight compilation. I can't bring myself to watch them play the same games every event. Yeah, these games are great, but once I've seenit done 2-3 times, it probably shouldn't show up at the next event (anything named metroid, pokemon, or anything on the n64 for god's sake). That said, I'm really glad they did so well financially.
