Hello! Thanks for taking the time to read my introduction to the Team Liquid community. Basically this post is a jumping off point for me to get my name out there, and my hope is that this post can be a quick way for anyone reading to learn a little about myself and why I'm here.
So jumping right into why I came to this website, the main reason was for the Starcraft 2 community here. I have never been an avid RTS player. In fact, I struggle mightily in most RTS games that I play, which is few, however Starcraft 2 has always held my interest. I've finally reached that point where I really want to take the time to learn the game, and of course have fun doing it. And quite frankly, none of my friends are very interested in the game. Which has forced me to reach out to communities, like Team Liquid, in order to meet other like-minded people who want to play the game, learn and improve, and above all, have fun!
Like I mentioned earlier, I'm quite a n00b when it comes to RTS games, primarily playing FPS titles such as CS or Quake. My first RTS experience came when I played Age of Empires, one of my favorite series. However that experience was more on the casual side, mostly playing custom games and just seeing how many units I could fit on screen at once to battle each other, and for the most part, that made me happy. With Starcraft 2, now that I have finished the campaign for the three current expansions, I'm finally ready to take that giant leap into multiplayer. Now, i'm not trying to win any tournaments in Starcraft, I'm not trying to reach the top of the ladders or be #1. However, like most people I do enjoy winning and I always have that competitive drive to want to be better and improve, even if it's just going from Bronze 3 to Bronze 2.
So that brings me to what I hope Team Liquid can be for me. I hope this site can be where I get better. I hope to meet some really cool people, people who enjoy playing, watching, and discussing Starcraft. I hope I can use this site to get better and improve my gameplay, and of course, above all else have fun playing the game.
Finally, some non-video game info that I think someone might want to know about me. I am a proud member of the USAF, my job is Explosive Ordnance Disposal, explaining the EOD in my username. I currently am stationed in Las Vegas, NV and love my job. I am engaged and am planning a wedding for the Summer of 2017, and I am a firearm fanatic, my dream job if I absolutely couldn't do EOD would be a gunsmith.
So that's a little bit about me, please feel free to say hello, don't be shy and add me in-game, my BattleNet username is ZThor#1837 and I would love to have more active friends who play Starcraft. I am also looking for people who enjoy watching the tournaments, as I find that most eSports events are far more enjoyable to watch in a Skype call with a group where everyone can cheer and discuss the big plays together. If you made it this far, thanks for reading! Hope to see you around!

Good luck with that. After like five years on the site, I came to realize that it's way easier to make enemies.

Welcome to TL!
People are usually helpful in the strategy forum if you ask nicely. Try to play some games and post the replay in the (your race) help me thread. Most likely they'll tell you to learn to macro better.

The ones that smile at you. Those are the ones you REALLY want to watch out for.
Many a poster have been offered a spot as "liquipedia contributor", to never be seen again.

Welcome mate! I recommend at least live tournament threads and Fantasy Proleague from what this site has to offer. And don't be shy about posting, people will tell you if your opinion is wrong

This is an old boys club that essentially matches that "PC" fraternity in south park. Good luck.

Well generally, it is easier to be mean than to be nice. Being pleasant actually requires effort.

You only have one gold coin, go away n00b! When will you ever reach platinum?

Welcome! I think the best way to find a friend is probably to join some channel or just add friendly people on the ladder. Join some noob teams/tournaments, it's also a nice way to meet people.
Anyways, just have fun messing around with the game, that's the best way to learn. Once you start having less fun is when you stagnate.

Mostly congratulations for my sound taste in teams, if course. Possibly requests for mentoring in fandom.

A good first post. Welcome to TL. I'm new here myself, but I've been in the SC2 community since 2013, mostly hanging out in Chobo Team League and various clans. The community can be very good or very bad, depending on how you approach it.
If you want someone to practice with, let me know, I need the practice mysefl!
