I go on animesuki and there's a thread for each show and a whole place dedicated to older series so I guess you're right

I remember wanting to read but the more I searched, the more I saw people saying that it isn't translated pretty much at all after the anime adaptation. Only some summaries were available, which I read, and holy shit does stuff go crazy afterwards. I'd love to read the full chapters somewhere though..

S1 was 5 episodes for vol1 + 5 episodes for vol2. So far we've gotten 5 episodes for vol3 in season 3 and now vol4 has started and we know it's only 10 episodes. They'll just adapt that and make vol5 if and when s3 happens

But yeah, they're such a long way from translating anything relevant, that I don't think I'll be buying the translations for another good 5 years or so.

I ended up rewatching an anime I always liked but never loved, Bounen no Xam'd. Before this rewatch, I basically called this a better but ultimately dsyfunctional alternative to Eureka 7 with great character drama but lacking in plot. I gave it a closer look this time around, and I'm pretty sure I'm wrong on the second part of the statement. The plotting could probably have been better in terms of disseminating information, but I can see why they kept everything so "mysterious" until the very end I guess. It's very good. Would recommend people watch it, and if you felt it had no plot the first time around, to please reconsider and give it another shot. It might be frustrating, but I feel like the entire timeline of the story makes perfect sense and is actually well thought out in terms of its lore.

+ Show Spoiler + Wow, finally some development for Erina where she stands up to her father. But this was basically foreshadowed the whole arc. But it's a step closer for her to be shipped with souma so worth. Wow hisako 2nd in the popularity chart with Alice 3rd. Damn. Erina is best girl? not surprised. : D. I'm just surprised that hisako beat Alice.

+ Show Spoiler + I think my favourite arc is the dark tournament. Every match felt really important and they gave time for each match as well (would've been fine with 1 episode each, 2 max for fights about toguro, big bosses etc...). The last arc would've been great had they not decided to have everything off screen after the Yusuke fight. Honestly, when they showed the contestants that were Raizan's fighting partners and then showed their spectral powers, I figured that they'll play an important role, especially Enki who seemed to be drawing the most power out as shown by the close-up. In other words, the result isn't that surprising but I would've loved to see Enki and another of the partners actually fight in the later stages. Also, they never said what happened with Kurama. We know he lost but to who and how? Biggest disappointment for the last arc is that there was so much potential being that the demon realm is vast, much is unknown and we got these new 8+ partners of Raizan who seem to be crazy powerful, enough to make Yomi second guess himself beating anyone and drawing the attention of Mukuro too. They could've explored their past and relation to Raizan etc... In a way, I am glad that Yusuke lost. As powerful as he got, had he actually won the tournament or even beat Yomi or Mukuro, I think it would've been bogus. Already going toe to toe with Yomi and almost beating him is plenty imo considering their experience, age, power level etc... Then there was all that yellow energy that Yusuke released when he started to think who he was fighting for. They discussed Shinobi's energy but stated it wasn't that so what was it? I was also hoping for a Yusuke vs Kurama or Hiei fight but I guess the writer didn't want them to clash. Ending otherwise was good. Another episode just exploring everyone's life afterwards to show how they adapted back etc... would've been nice but as you guys mentioned, I think the author kinda gave up. This last tournament which was fun to watch definitely suffered from not having enough episodes dedicated to it. Ironically, I think I liked Toguro as a villain quite a bit. He had that air of being unstoppable and hard to overcome then they decide that he's only B class rofl. That felt like it came from left field but it's the usual for action anime. Other than that, I did kind of miss the earlier arcs when Yusuke was still slowly leveling up. At the time, any improvements felt profound but now they just practice offscreen and go super saiyan-ish like Shinobu for ex. Anyways, definitely recommend. The sound track is fantastic. Much like other action anime, it really gets you excited and you know something is up. 9/10 for the last arc

About the Chapter Black arc, though: + Show Spoiler + I though the stuff with Territories was a nice change in pace, especially considering it came on the heels of the Dark Tournament. In the Dark Tournament, there was some real-high power level DBZ tier shit going down, what with Yusuke firing off Spirit Guns that are more like Spirit Cannons, and all sorts of stuff like that. Togoro's portrayal of power was extremely convincing, especially considering that he was pretty much hyped up to be the most powerful being in the Human World. If they followed this up with Togoro being upstaged by someone/something not even hinted about previously, I'd be irritated. Instead, humans with Territory Powers got brought in, which allowed for unconventional fights that weren't just a raw power pissing contest. It was a good way of showing that strength wasn't everything. Annnnnnnd then they got to Shinobu, who actually did upstage Togoro and make him look weak, and was never hinted at prior, and the fight turned into a power level pissing contest. And needless to say, I was irritated by such a turn. yes, that's also one of my major criticisms of the show. + Show Spoiler + The jump in power for Shinobu was freaking unreal. The guy was S-level and he also had that special aura on top of it. My guess was that Togashi wanted to get Yusuke killed to get the demonkin bit so it'll make an impact on the rest of the team who will power up in the process and he gets the powerup as well. Also, dbz did something like this too but for some reason, it felt a bit more natural (think of how we got the android warning, got the weak ones then strong ones eventually cell pops up too or how freiza was known to be all powerful from the time they got to Namek and felt his power level etc...)
