This arc is extremely different from Water 7/Enies Lobby. The stakes are different, Sanji's situation is different, the progression is different, the resolution we have seen thus far is different, etc etc. Other than Sanji being forced to leave and giving Luffy a tearful "I want to come home", there are very little similarity with what went on with Robin. But I suppose if Forikorder wants to be a pedantic contrarian as per usual, why let things like that stop you?

like i said, depends on how nitpicky we want to be, you two put alot of value in tiny details and i dont, thats all it comes down to
|
Isn't it more like you are super fixated on some minor details while ignoring literally everything else that makes then different?
|
i dont get how its "nitpicking" or putting value into "tiny" details, when i literally just said the main plot points of this arc are much bigger in the grand scheme of things, and that the similarities of sanji and robins arcs are minor details. if anything youre the one whos nitpicking

Big mom blackmailing Sanji to come is a minor detail? i kinda thought it was the entire premise of the arc

There are some people that will never be satisfied no matter what

Or we can just agree to disagree on what we consider as the defining features. *on

Things everyone should know about the one piece thread
1. Forik would argue against 2+2 = 4. 2. You must accept Enel as your lord and savior. 3. Logic is not welcome here 4. Oda is wrong.

You know, I really don't get that. It's like people's standards for Nakama are so low that literally anyone that either looks attractive or is somewhat cool is immediately placed on the nakama list. It's like people don't understand that nakama are meant to last till the end of the series and not be a character of the week. Most of them should also bring something to the table beyond kung fu battle skills. Like what would Carrot even do besides act quirky and pander to furries? What's her dream and past? Will anyone actually care about her after she joins?
I swear if the fans had their way the Thousand Sunny would be filled with hundreds of same-face Oda girls that do nothing beyond act quirky and strip. This is One Piece not Fairy Tail, goddammit.

I guess it became an expectation due to early One Piece, where each arc would have a new crew member join. But its been how long since Brook joined, at this point?

You could argue that Jimbe is technically the latest crew member but... this arc still isn't over so we'll see.
+ Show Spoiler +personally I hope he dies

He's not funny, he has no weird characteristic. He's just a bland character in my opinion. He'd serve the story more by dying than joining. Or maybe instead of joining the main crew he just takes the sun pirates and joins the straw hat fleet as allies that way.
I don't really want any new crew members at all actually. We already have the screen/page time divided entirely too much, another main character would just add to that problem.

I am sure Oda will manage, turning that very stoic/honorable attitude on it's head could get quite fun, for the record Zoro and Robin are "serious" characters...
In Oda I trust (even when he is wrong)

oh man no chapter ... more soul crushing than sanji
|
I think he fits really well..
He would be the only experienced, smart, toughtfull, with world and politics knowledge and older char with super power that brings a bit more thinking into a band of teenagers..Brook is really old probably the most stupid
He is super different since he is a fisherman and old!
hope he joins
