Foreigners have begun to win games against Koreans again, Blizzard is balancing your game, there is much content to see.
Please leave BW alone. Don't let them hear your wanton cries for debasement of this game. It is as it should be. Dumb AI, bad pathing, 12 units per hotkey, who would ever want to play this mess? Right guys? Please T_T; You can always play BW non HD version. Also by now Blizzard has already decided/implemented these changes if this BWHD exists so no matter what any of us say here it will change nothing. This topic is for exchange of expectations and opinions, not for telling Blizzard how to design anything. And you can always play SC2 not BW ft. SC2 mechanics. Blizzard has already decided/implemented what they want for LotV but that doesn't stop them from balance patching and sending community updates based on community whine.

Maybe fix unit AI so they don't overshoot things, like scourge "Chinese triangle" as well. Sure, there's skill in it, but it makes ZvZ really stupid because there's no way to get back into it when you have a lower muta count. It also makes drops/vessels really strong in ZvT.
Or how about fixing "unit pops out of egg and disappears" bug that makes it harder to hold a ramp at your third in ZvT? Losing a lurker to it is really costly. Pls. That is not a bug. The rest that you have said is also disgraceful. stuck units is not a bug? Sorry, should have been clearer; units not popping out of eggs that are receiving a greater dps than their health is not a bug.

You do realize that the current servers don't function at all. Many of BW players can't play this game without lag because the network technology is ancient, or because of the stupid bug where you wait a minute in order to see the open games list. BWHD can fix that. Who do you think deserves a proper BW HD more? The Koreans who basically are 99.999% of the scene, as well as the foreigners who are still supporting BW after all these years, or people like you who want change in order to bring more new blood?
New blood will come nonetheless if the servers just work, and we have HD sprites. New blood will more likely keep on playing if we have ONE FUNCTIONING VERSION OF BW.
What you are suggesting is splitting up of the community so that you can have 'modern UI' which most of the current community, progamers and God do not want. I don't want to community to split again like 2011-12.
If you don't like that, you can always go play SC2.

Multiple Building Selection. In BW you can only select and hotkey 1 building at a time, in SC2 you can select and hotkey multiple.

Profound thought: it is way easier to be non-chalant about how various novelties of the modern era affect Brood War if you never cared about Brood War or knew anything about competitive Brood War to begin with. This leads to suggesting that 16 : 9 wouldn't change anything and that MBS and automine would be okay.
I can't believe I didn't see this earlier.

Why do you lump every change you don't like into "3rd party enhanced gameplay" but not the changes you do like? Keyboard/mouse loss can't even be classified as a bug, it's clearly part of the game. Blizzard simply didn't account for 300+ apm when they designed the engine in the 90's.
So there's clearly at least one feature of the game you want to fix. I'm sure there are purists out there thinking you're a filthy SC2 pagan for even suggesting that. Just because you want 1 feature fixed and I want 2 features fixed, don't dismiss me as an SC2 person wanting to bring the whole dysfunctional modern package into the game when I clearly detest SC2 as a game.

You are drawing artificial lines in the sand more so than I am baking arguments like this. I have explained quite clearly my stance on every issue I have put forth. This includes the aforementioned input loss, a bandwagon I only hopped on recently, if you want to put it that way. Someone commented that they disagree with my position on it and I answered in a way that makes it clear that I understand where they are coming from. However that is making mountains out of molehills in comparison to the agenda that some of these posters have about what should be implemented in BW:HD, AND we both know this.
For the record, not sure if you meant this "I" as being directly you or the universal "I," but I don't think I once opposed a post you made concerning this specific issue.
As far as the other people who make off-hand comments about what is going to be good or what they want to see done in BW:HD, well, I'm going to keep on fighting against the ignorance.

Fixing a few server bugs and adding HD sprites ain't going to bring in new blood, minimum you need widescreen support and resolution upgrades. You won't get much new blood with 640x480 end of story.

I'd argue that current BW fans are not bound by the same jingoism that bred the current WCS system or the hype surrounding a foreigner beating a couple of Koreans at one tournament at some point. Attracting foreign players has to be made based upon the merits of the game itself and I don't see many "where are the non-Koreans at?" Posts in the BW section. What this tells me is that this community values quality and skill over an affirmative action globalism. That should explain why the presence or not of foreign interest into the game does not rank highly in this community, if I may be so bold as to hypothesize.

The first decline of foreign BW was around 2005-2007, when you needed half an hour to join a game with no lag. All progamers, all players who play nowadays play on 4: 3. You can do widescreen yourself if you want if you actually played the game. My issue with you is that you act as if your issues mattered with the foreign BW decline. New people don't come in because the game is unplayable on the official servers, with no ladder system in place. Parties with more than 3 players are 99% likely to lag. Games need 30 minutes to be found not because there aren't players willing to play, but because there will always be someone who lags not because of ISP or downloading, but because someone didn't properly port forward or is somehow unable to do so. Shield battery could have fixed that.
It is absolutely pointless for you to have any opinion about this matter whatsoever if you dismiss these extremely big issues as 'few server bugs'. They were not. People weren't frustrated about the game because of no MBS or no automine or old graphics, so they stopped playing. The server population before these 'few server bugs' occurred was way higher than WC3's population despite WC3 being at its absolute peak. People were frustrated because for more than a decade, Blizzard couldn't modernize BW so that these 'few server bugs' couldn't be fixed.
If you in 4 hours play encounter in 70% of your games someone lagging so that it will be absolutely unplayable, or simply crashing then you will be frustrated. Your dismissal of these issues as 'few server bugs' makes me doubt about you having any authority to say anything about the decline of BW.

^ Beautifully said.
Even more relevant nowadays when one hacker pretty much brought all of East to a standstill.

TBH, I really don't care enough to spend time arguing or speculating about this. All I want out of this remake is a few good nights with the old crew I haven't played with for 10 years now. If there is MBS, I'm pretty sure that we will still play, but also not enjoy it nearly as much. ... but also ... no one cares if we enjoy it more or less I guess

What I enjoyed was the higher value of tactical and strategical decisions over pure mechanical speed and ability-spam in SC2. namely the damage system of reducing damage (50%, 25%) vs certain enemy units instead of the terrible "bonus damage" system of SC2. The highground advantage. The Mapdesign full of plateaus, islands and cliffs to use it for your advantage. The simplicity of the unit system that basically fit the three different race-playstyles pretty well and the way better design of the "spellcasters". This in itself is worthless and start to be a big deal only when the all system works. And all of that works thanks to limitations
If they released an BW with HD graphics, automine, mbs, fixed pathing, smartcasting, customizeable hotkeys and increased control groups, I'd personally be pretty fine fith it. Would it create new balance problems? Maybe.
No. Not maybe. INEVITABLY.
I am not so sure that they would be instantly gamebreaking, because these benefits apply to all races, not just one. Yeah, sure. Lets reduce melee damage of every single unit to 1, that wont gamebraking anything becouse it applies to all races. The what? Terran melee is only firebat - a niche unit as opposed to zergling beeing mandatory? Who cares.
I can accept that there are lots of people wo want an exact 1:1 copy of the classic BW with just better screen resolutions but I personally have no problems with certain modernizations that make the game more enjoyable. and in my opinion reducing the amount of "basic tasks" and removing artificial obstacles opens more time for actual commanding the combat units and acting tactical on the map - which is what I as a player want to do and as a streamviewer want to see.
Too bad, becouse the game you want is exacly what I dont want.

Damn, do people totally have interest in buying BWHD ? Oh for sure. There is a far larger audience of people that would buy that game in a heartbeat who may not even know about the pro scene (or even care) but would buy it because of how much they enjoyed it in the past. Just like AOE2HD and all the other HD remakes. I think Blizzard will do better than the others as they don't like to release things with major bugs/performance issues. Could be wrong and that's assuming this is real (I hope it is!). I think if it's a for-sale product instead of a free downloadable patch (<–– hahahaha, yeah right), then Bliz can count on selling several million copies, unless they utterly and completely botch the job somehow. And by 'botch', I don't mean by including customizable hotkeys or fixing the 'dragoon getting stuck on a ramp' bug or the umpteen other things that so-called 'purists' here rant and rave would prevent them from ever playing the new version. The vast majority of players aren't going to have that view. Now, if they include unlimited unit select, non-optional automine, non-optional smartcasting and MBS, etc. etc., THAT would be a total botch. If they expect new players to buy and play this game MBS and automine are 100% required and would not change tactical part of the game, only make the macro part less crazy hard for average players. Smartcasting and unlimited selection can be argued to be left out as both change the tactical part of the game a lot but also not including this could be a deal breaker to many people. Totally agree. If we go back to 1999 and War2 BNE we see that Blizzard added rally points and unit queues to the game in that updated version.I think MBS and automine are a certainty, unlimited selection and smartcasting are unlikely in my opinion. I'm hoping they will include a 'classic' setting with just resolution upgrades and windows compatibility fixes as I'd prefer that over the MBS & automine version. Let us all forbid football players to do tricks. From now on, the Stepover, the Marseille turn, the Elastico, the Nutmeg, the Pele Flick, the Cruijff turn, the Seal dribble, the run around, the Rabona etc will be forbidden from the game. This new version of football HD will make it easier for newcomers to play, so that the game will focus only on tactics. You can from now on only kick the ball and run around. No nonsense tricks. Hence it will be closer to American football (also known as Football 2) with its emphasize on tactics instead of mechanics. I mean football viewers today only admire these tricks and the extreme training from players who can perform these, but they should all focus on tactics instead. In my opinion these things must be changed in order for American football players like me to consider football HD a good game. In my opinion the World should just change these things so that we Americans can enjoy football HD. -from an American Football player who played football once. Dumb argument. Original BW still exists and will continue to exist. If you want to play it go play it. Personally I'm looking forward to an update that will bring tens of thousands of new players in and will allow me to play more of my preferred public 2v2/3v3 games and UMS. Well I'd argue the fact that there are almost no foreigners playing BW is because the game is 19 years old and SC2 came out 7 years back. Fixing a few server bugs and adding HD sprites ain't going to bring in new blood, minimum you need widescreen support and resolution upgrades. You won't get much new blood with 640x480 end of story. Plus i said myself a couple of pages back i would love a classic mode with just resolution upgrades and windows compatibility fixes.I never said i wanted UI upgrades.Anyway this discussion is pretty meaningless, Blizzard has no doubt made their decisions months ago.It would not surprise me to see BWHD played at the event on Saturday in the tournament as a showpiece. Lol WTF? It's not a race issue it's a language issue. It's very hard to play 2v2/3v3/UMS with people who cannot understand you and you cannot understand them.
10 years ago when we used to have 5-6 friends get together and we'd do 1v1 obs, 2/2s 3/3s UMS talking shit all the while.Whats hard to understand here?

Can someone explain to me what would be so disgusting about 16 : 9? I hear you, I know it can definitely change the gameplay if you see more of screen, but would it be really that critical of a change?
I absolutely can't understand however why you wouldn't want higher 4 : 3 resolution (unless you're really attached to BW's graphics as they are right now). If it's done correctly it really shouldn't change the gameplay at all.

This thread is being taken over by "I wouldn't mind if MBS and automine were implemented in BW" people. Abort mission. No further constructive discussion can happen here it will only be of potential detriment. If you play SC2, love automine and MBS and smartcasting, I am very happy for you.
Maybe you should learn to read before responding.
If I wanted to play sc2 I would not be here in this topic. I gave up on sc2 after they gave info on HotS exp and it was clear they had no idea what they were doing. Instead of fixing WoL they implemented more problems. I tried playing Starbow but again that is a different game done by amateur enthusiasts without matchmaking. Finding games was hard and finding similar skill games harder.

If BWHD ends up just being a graphics makeover I will probably just play the campaign again and forget about it.
