Just posting on the off chance that anyone knows how to save it or glitch the system, I've tried asking Blizzard support and almost everything imaginable to try to trick the system but so far nothing has worked.

I've kept it alive all these years though I haven't been able to play as much as I used to before. The password is alt-coded, and apparently 1.18 doesn't recreate alt codes the same way as 1.16, because my password no longer works, and I haven't tied it to an email address. It's really depressing since I've had it and kept it alive for so long, only to die for something that's not really my fault. I've always been loyal to Broodwar; never touched a hack in my life, never touched SC2 in my life. Can you download a version of 1.16 and change the password from there?

He's not going to be able to access battle.net to change his password on 1.16 I imagine, it's just going to try to make him upgrade the version before he has a chance to login/change his password.

My advice would as well be to verify on d2 if You still can access your acc, and then try to change the pw from here. Edit : Or war 3 if there are still some servers available

Edit : Or war 3 if there are still some servers available I don't think war3 will work, I believe they use separate accounts even though they are kind of on the same server. That's why you always have to add the @lordaeron/@azeroth tag to message someone on wc3.
