Week eight of SSL Premier saw a number of players in the position to lock up playoff spots as well as a pair of Protoss facing relegation.
ByuL took the lead against Stats by holding a three base adept attack, but was unable to close out the match. Stats’ skytoss play dominated on Daybreak. In the next game, Stats defended expertly with immortals and high templar to move to 5-3 overall in Premier.
Next up was Patience, who was unable to offer much resistance against Maru. He lost his oracle without doing any damage in game one and only fell behind further from there. The second game was just as brisk, with Maru’s triple drop applying pressure before a push on Patience’s third put things to rest.
Dark fell to Solar just as swiftly. He went for a pair of zergling attacks in both games. The timings were different, but Solar held both. He put the nail in the coffin on Frost with a nydus attack that gutted Dark’s main and earned Solar a spot in the playoffs.
Zest lost a quick game to start the fourth match against aLive, but managed to send things to a third game by controlling game two with a particularly effective oracle and blink stalkers. It took aLive some time, but an attack on Zest’s third while vikings harassed in the natural cracked Zest’s double forge play. aLive’s victory means that sOs and Zest will be relegated to Challenge.
sOs and INnoVation traded wins in the first two games. Mass oracle play put sOs ahead, but a cyclone/marine push evened things up. The third game was a fitting end to the night, with sOs’ two base glaives aggression turning into a prolonged and very tense contain/attack that saw INnoVation brought to the brink. He barely managed to hold on with single digit workers, though, putting him in the the playoffs alongside Solar.

I think they made a mistake and didn't tag it. Too bad, I was looking forward to watching the matches after work too.
So now I think we're down to 3 guys for the 2 last spots in the playoffs: Byul and Stats are likely to be qualified, but Maru can qualify if he beats Byul 2-0 (then they will be tied 5-4 with +3 map difference so it's likely their head to head score wil determine who's in). Stats can also be kicked out if Maru wins 2-0 and Stats loses 0-2. Then it'll be Maru and Byul in with +3 map dif, and Stats out with +2, all tied 5-4.
Go Maru, give us your best next week, and don't lose a single map!
What happens in a 3 player tie? I.e. if Maru 2-0 Byul and Stats loses 1-2? Are Stats and Maru through because of the h2h? Playoff games? 3 sided dice? Rock-paper-scissors?

Well they do the normal, sane and sportsmanlike thing and challenge each other in a battle of Rak'shir to ascend in SSL

Inno plays Stats, not Zest. Big difference these days.
How the mighty have fallen. And how the puny have risen.
Inno was experimenting with new TvP builds yesterday on stream, with mixed results. Mass Lib lategame seems decent but not great, not sure why he doesn't build any ghosts. Early Cyclone/Viking pushes had a lot of success though. Eager to see what he'll try against Stats.

Players like Innovation and Maru are known for not making ghosts even when needed, maybe lack of patience.
Damn... I've seen a few of these matches... I knew Zest got his ass kicked, but I had no idea he got ROFL-stomped so badly... didn't he used to be the best Protoss ever?! What happened?!
